Hello Everyone! I'm up again right now on the 2 Crafty Chipboard blog HERE.
I created this fun layout of my daughter smiling at her mobile phone screen!
The amount of time kids spend on their devices is quite frightening, but then again I
am not the greatest example myself, as I absolutely LOVE doing exactly the same
thing ! Lately I have been putting a "cap" on my phone time by setting my alarm
for when I can go on it again. Desperate times call for desperate measures...
for when I can go on it again. Desperate times call for desperate measures...
I went with 2009!!! dark brown paper {thank you very much Pink Paislee!} to contrast
against the very "white" photo. I began by applying modeling paste through a
beautiful UmWow Heart Stencil. Dried that off, splashed on some amazing
gold ink, then began my placement with a couple of very old strips of
patterned paper strips I found sitting on my pile of brown offcuts!
You can pop over to the original post to see all the bits & pieces of chipboard I used.
The doily borders {down the sides}, the Hello & Love Word Circles & the 12 inch
Cog border {that I cut up into 3 x 4inch lengths & tucked into 3 sides of the photo}.
I embellished with Prima flowers, leaves & some older Pink Paislee
cotton reel heads & Maya Road resin roses.
I used my Aladine IZINKS to recolour the chipboard pieces.
These inks are EXPENSIVE but BEAUTIFUL & if you pop on over to
Scrap Around The World this month there are LOADS of them up for grabs as Aladine
is one of our Epic Event sponsors. What I like about these inks is that they come
in a small bottle {a glass one so be careful} & work great for splashing ink
onto a background, which is a technique I LOVE. Also, if you dip a watercolour
paintbrush into them you can paint your chippie directly for a lovely sheen.
These inks also blend beautifully & if you start with the palest colour first it's easier as
you don't need to wash the paint off in between. You can look at all the wonderful
2Crafty chipboard pieces in their store HERE & remember locals that I am their
South African agent & can order you anything you want & bring it in for you.
Obviously it works out more expensive than what is manufactured locally, but
there is no comparison, The cuts are so fine & the designs are up to the minute
& always on trend, they are updated on a continual, usually monthly basis.

Classic pose there by your girl! Looove the 'white space' you've left on this one and the placement of those chippy circles....looks fabulous:) Not tried Izinks....sort of got enough stuff & I'm TRYING to be good and not buy much this year!!!! Yeah...wish me luck, eh??!!!!
Yep I hear you... technology is a fabulous but it is a time sucker. I have been so busy with all the wedding and baptism stuff that I have not had much time on it at all and I have to say it is kind of nice. Not much set to change until I get back from my three month trip either. :) I will have to do something when I get back though :D This is a lovely layout and I love the contrast of the 'white' with the dark background. The hearts are gorgeous.
This looks gorgeous! Pretty photo and love all the hearts! And yes blog hopping is my time taker, but I do love visiting blogs!

Helen,
A beautiful layout! Your daughter is so photogenic - in fact - your whole beautiful family takes awesome pics. I love the colors, flowers and pretty hearts.
So fun and fresh! I can just see you smiling your way through this one! Hugs!
I know peeps here that carry TWO phones, can you believe it? One for work one for personal and they all buzz at the same time...but I do love my device time! Lovely lovely page, even better 'cause you used up some off cuts! Super cool chippies! I sent you an email earlier as your package is OFF! Hope it gets there soon!
Just gorgeous Helen!
A great page Helen and the design and colouring is fabulous! Gorgeous photo too....
I think we can all be guilty sometimes of spending too much time on our devices! For me...when there is load shedding, then that is the go to, because we can only chat and hana hana with the family so long. Last week it was 3hrs plus!!!
