Toot Toot!! Plus February RAK announcement & Welcome to Adolescence Layout {The Colour Room Palette 49/Blue Moon March Sketch}

Last week my layout "She Loves to Read" was awarded an Honourable Mention at Get Picky over here.  I also won one of the challenges the weekend before last at the new Jenni Bowlin Ning site here for my "Just so Beautiful" layout.  And FINALLY I have drawn a winner for my February {the good old days} RAK.  Congratulations Lynette!  Please e mail me with your postal address so that I can send your goodies off to you.

Tomorrow I will be compiling the next RAK {for March} so look out for it here soon & remember, only followers have a chance of winning, in other words, you need to be visible on my Followers gadget - I noticed that 4 of the commenters on this month's RAK weren't followers so had to withdraw their names unfortunately as it wouldn't be fair to all the people who had joined, so if you are in doubt, please check that your name is there, on my "Followers" gadget in my side-bar, so that you have a chance of winning this month's RAK :)

And another thing...please don't be shy to tell me that I haven't joined your site either!  I don't read my blogs through a Google Reader, but rather through a private blog I have created, with various long lists of links, so sometimes I forget to click "follow" on your blogs & I know how much it means to be acknowledged in this way...

So I got this one done recently for The Colour Room Palette 49 & used a sketch from the Blue Moon blog here.

Of course my natural reaction was to reach for photos of my daughters AGAIN but then I decided NO and challenged myself to produce a masculine layout using feminine colours.

I liked this simple sketch & thought it was strong & manly.

Finding suitable prints in my stash was challenging as the pinks are quite mauvey.  I used some mists & some paint, as obviously the mists didn't show up too well against the black background.

Usually it is my modus operandi to leave one corner of my layout relatively unembellished to "rest the eye".

When I first saw this photo it was on it's way to the Recycle Bin, but I really liked the pose, expression & composition.  The exposure was terrible though as it was at night & my flash batteries had run out.

I decided to play around with it though & "edit it to oblivion" - for a funky "teenage" effect, which I think has turned out quite striking.

I don't know what's potting with your followers gadget as I am a follower, getting your updates in my google reader but I can't see my picture in that lot.
It won't let me sign up again either as it says I am there.
Go figure!

Thank you girls - Stef I thought I saw you there...you are definitely not one of the 4 that I couldn't find - I remember that much...will check it out now - you did click "next" I presume - and see all the followers as they don't all show up at once...

Yes I did, but still couldn;t see me, as long as I am not one of the four that's cool.
