Her Time to Fly Layout [CR84FN/Let's Capture These Sketches}

I got this done yesterday for a site that's new to me - CR84FN - another colour challenge blog that seems to appeal mostly to cardmakers for some reason - although you can submit ANY type of papercraft project.

I found another new {to me} site called Let's Capture These Sketches, with this beeeeeeyoooootiful sketch [No 73}that just happened to be perfect for the photo too!

I have been dying to use this Crate Paper Rainbow print, exclusively designed for Studio Calico, so decided now was the time!

I heavily inked the paper with 4 different shades of blue & tore one of the prints, all meant to emulate the sea & the waves as the photo was taken at Ushaka, our Water Park by the sea.
I embellished using butterflies and pearls as their trail, as they symbolise her flying off now that she is studying away from home.

I made that weird spikey embellishment there by sticking decorative pins to the back of a Basic Grey sentiment tab & the "Bon Voyage" element is about 100 years old, found in the bottom of my stash heap :)

As are the 2 little ladybugs, but they are sooooooo cute so I'm glad they finally have a home here!

Oh how I love those K & Co. paper butterflies from that die-cut a couple years back...do you remember it?  A WHOLE SHEET of press out die-cut butterflies - alas I am almost finished them now :(

And a funny little tree shape that I cut from some scrapbook product packaging & added some butterflies too...

A bland corner at the top - very important IMO - to have a bit of "free space" to create a good balance & "rest the eye".

Grey blue backing cardstock - Basic Grey

I must confess I am not as thrilled with that rainbow paper as everyone else seems to be... can't imagine how I'm going to use it... but you've done great with it here.
