8 Days a Week {Scrapbook Challenges Spring Fling/The Paper Variety sketch}

 Just popping in with this one so that I can link it up to The Paper Variety - Wooooow what a sketch they have going there this week - it's a beauty that's for sure - I couldn't resist!!

I combined this with another challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges.   Did you know that there is a SPRING FLING taking place RIGHT NOW and for the next 3 days too!  It actually started on the 17th but I forgot to tell you :( My bad....

Aaaaaaaaaaaaanyways...there is one AWESOME PRIZE PACK up for grabs - and the more challenges you enter, the more entries you get into the lucky draw!  I think there are going to be a total of 6 challenges all in all so c'mon girls...that's quite handleable!

I have been dying for an opportunity to use this gawjus KI Memories paper & this was it!  These 2 girls have an obsessive friendship so I thought that documenting how they would spend every second together if possible, would be reinforced by the calendar titles.

My layout ended up quite different from the sketch, because generally I don't take portrait/vertical photos - I just find that there is not enough breathing space in them & everyone looks like they are squashed into a straight-jacket in them!
***I started off with misting - still using the negative area sticker sheet I have - that is getting decidedly soggy now - and is tearing - giving it an even cooler look/effect in my opinion!  I used various shades of green, blue & yellow (which make green when mixed together) plus my pearly mist by Ranger {a must for adding sparkle!}

I cut that butterfly above from the Studio Calico packing card that came with my kit this month! To save hauling out the paint again I stamped my big pink inkpad down randomly just above my photo (being careful not to stamp ON the photo!) - looks like I painted it there hey - but I didn't - and no mess!***

I wanted this to be a quick one so I hand-journaled.  How are those Paperback Thickers - gawjus or just plain gawjus???!!!
***These days the misting is a bit tame for me, so I usually add some paint splodges too.  This is simple, as I keep all my little bottles of Making Memories paints on a rectangular drinks tray on my counter, plus one paintbrush, and a sealed jam jar containing fresh water.  I stick the brush directly into the paint bottle neck, dip it in the water, wipe off the excess on the bottle neck THEN HIT THE PAINTBRUSH WITH MY SCISSORS!  I call this the "tapping" method & it's a great way to splodge your paint on!!!***

I inked this cream polyester ribbon with pink & then copper ink to ground my date.

That pretty printed card is one of the new Jenni Bowlin journaling cards - I turned it sideways & inked it with pink - then made that interesting tie-embellishment using some twine & a couple of brads,  I could see by this stage that there was NO WAY that I was going to fit a banner into the bottom of this layout so I decided to cut a small one out using the washi tape that Diana sent me from Jamaica - thanks Di!

Supplies:-

KI Memories stitched/scalloped printed paper (Coffee Date)
Backing paper - K I Memories Bloom
Mists - Tattered Angels Meadow Green , Key Lime & Snow Queen
Maya Mists - Blue Hydrangea & Sunflower Yellow
Ranger - Perfect Perfect Mist
Pink Inkpad - Doodlebug
Copper Inkpad - Colourbox
Basic Grey file tabs
Brads, jute & butterfly ribbon - stash
Journaling card - Jenni Bowlin
Paint - Making Memories - Grass Stains
Alphas - Paperback Thickers
Butterflies - Making Memories Paper Reverie Metallique
Butterfly - Studio Calico with Ranger distress stickles - Shabby Shutters

Gee, now for me that was a simple layout, but looking at that stash list, sjoe...just goes to show we need a looooooooooooooooot of stash to get things done!!!
