Home for the Holidays {Southern Girls Glitter Challenge/Twisted Sketches 073}

I am getting into the swing of this challenge thing now!  Here is one where I managed to combine 2 challenges again.  This is usually possible with sketch challenges combined with other types such as colour/theme challenges.  In this case a GLITTER challenge over at Southern Girls here.
I've had this in my drafts since last week & see I've just missed the challenge!  These Aus/NZ/Asian sites get me every time because they are AHEAD in time instead of BEHIND like the States, & I am so used to thinking in Pacific & Eastern Standard time now!  The sketch challenge is from Twisted Sketches here & closes today.  The twist is to use BLACK - anyway, anyhow!

When I showed this layout to my daughter she advised me not to put it up on the internet lol...!!!  I know it's not the greatest but hey, 3 more photos scrapped!  I think, in retrospect, that maybe my blinging phase is over...
I still have lots of rhinestones & glitter though so perhaps I'll add a touch here & there to some of my layouts in the future but...

maybe I went a bit overboard on this one, it being a Christmas layout & all ;-D
Supplies:- Black cardstock-Bazzill.  Turquoise cardstock - American Crafts.  Spotted glitter paper - Making Memories Mistletoe.  Glitter flowers, glitter ferns & bling brads - Making Memories.  Self-adhesive Felt Flowers - Fiesta felt.  Foamcore to raise bottom photos.  Alphas - all old from stash.  Red glitter stickers - K & Co.  Stickpins - Maya Road.  Ribbon from stash.  Gold Inkpad - Pretty Colour.

When I first started competing in challenges towards the end of last year, I won quite a few RAKS.  This year I haven't been so lucky.  However, I was blessed to receive this little pack of goodies from my blog friend Diana, aka The Lonely Scrapbooker, all the way from Jamaica last week.

She had a good sort-out of her craft space here & e mailed to ask me if I'd like her to pass on a few goodies from her Studio Calico kits, certain items that she was sure she would never use.  Of course I said YES!  I love happy mail, especially if it has sailed the seven seas {or flown over them!}.  I save all the envelopes.  I'm not sure why!  I suppose I should cut them all up one day & design a collage-type layout with them ;-D

***Edited to add*** Just discovered today that I won some more happy mail - will share the news soon!

Hey Helen Great sparkle in this, awesome. As for sewing through chipboard, I use a denim needle, or the smallest on availible for your machine. and my trip is go SLOW..... For thicker chipboard I actually do not use the foot petal I just turn the side dial and turn it one stitch at a time so that I know that my project won't get caught under the foot. Good luck!!
