This ship forms part of the Aquarium side of things, but also has a restaurant in where you can dine & watch the sharks swim past you...sounds like enough to put you off eating LOL.
There are 3 of these water-slides, of varying steepness. They look like fun but I tried them once & nearly drowned LOL...I lay down & apparently that makes you shoot down even faster! Well I won't be going down again to test if sitting up is slower...

The statue dudes were there again. They are brilliant. Standing completely still in the boiling sun while the sweat literally drips down their faces & they don't wipe it off...it's a labour of love I tell you...{or a desperate way to earn an honest living}...
This is the restaurant Chelsea came to for her boyfriend's College dance. Very exotic...

You can read about these guys here. We never seem to have time for one of these rides, or any money left by the time we come out of Ushaka, where they wait, unfortunately, but one day this summer we are going to do it - would make for a wonderfully colourful page for the family album!
Durban doesn't have that many accessible beaches if you live in suburbia as we do. Further along the East Coast there are bigger, more open beaches, but in town it's actually better to pay to go to Suncoast Beach, where there are just a few less people due to the cover charge - and it is slightly safer. This Ushaka beach is also lovely but a half hour drive & another half an hour to park!

looks like a whole load of fun at the water park !! at least you had a good day during the enforced hols ! ;)
You ought to send this post to Ushaka's website. Lovely pics and great advertising for them. What fine children you have! How did you control your camera in that wind? Glad to hear you are going through an 'I love Durban' stage (even after this mornings visit to Home Affairs).... ;)
Stunning photo's helen - did you do the collages in Picasa? I really need to learn how to do that - wonder if it's simpler than photoshop?
I am really keen to come on a family hols to Durbs and then do Ushaka. So we'll have to meet up?
Glad to have you back again - did wonder where you were!
Oh, we did the rickshaw rides years and years ago when i was a kid - just wish i had the pics still!
Lol to DH's comment...yup even Home Affairs wasn't that bad now that there are nice new chairs there...although I did wish my point & shoot was repaired so I could have photographed the public toilet I was forced to go to ;-D hee hee...Shayne the Picasa Collage function is ultra-quick & easy. The more I spend time in Picasa the more I think people are silly to waste time fussing with Photoshop, which is so user-unfriendly. Unless you want to be the next Jessica Sprague the time taken to learn the tricks doesn't warrant the results & it annoys me that Adobe charge so much for such an unselfexplanatory programme....In Picasa just click the photos you want to select for your collage then they will appear there. Select the type of collage you want & move the pics about into the right place within the collage by dragging & dropping, if you don't like the layout Picasa automatically selects for you. Honestly, less than a minute...
Gorgeous photos ... you did a great job of capturing the essence of this venue. Can't believe you had a 5-day fault on your line. If it is with Telkom, you know that you can claim credit for the 5-days you did not have use of your line. Telkom is quite good with this, as long as you have logged a call re the fault and got a reference number. Telkom has credit us numerous times for the same thing. Once we were credit for 6 weeks that we had intermittant usage.

Love your photos Helen. You can get wonderful effects in such bright sunlight when you start playing with your White Balance.
Great to hear you're back online;-D
Thanks for the tip Lynette - I've heard that but mine are not self-explanatory & I haven't had the time to look it up & read it all! I do change mine to the bright sun icon when I'm outside tho...hopefully that's the right thing to do lol...
Welcome back. You have been missed. :) xxxxx
Wow what an awesome break!! From ur photos the place look like an awesome place to chill & get all wet. Lol!! More pics to scrap & more stories to tell. Can't wait already :)
Sounds like your really loving where you live and it is so important....my kids are scrambling for a day at Ushaka during our two week holiday so think you will be seeing some of the same photos on my blog lol.
