Finally I Got out the Glue Gun & got Creative!

I love my glue-gun - old & small as it is...{actually decided yesterday I'm going to get me another one today at the Hypermarket cos I could do with a bigger one with a better stand}.

No-one here talks about glue-guns. No-one I've come across in Blogland talks about glue-guns. Do YOU use a glue-gun?!

When I first started scrapping 6 years ago the lady that showed me the ropes had one in her workshop & we used it all the time. It's actually a jolly good idea for us here in South Africa because the glue-sticks are so cheap! {only R10 a packet - 20 I think - loads in there anyways...} & because other good scrapbooking glues, like Tombo, are pricey here. AND mainly because the stick is INSTANT & MEGA STRONG. In fact, if you get it wrong, sorry for you, there's no chance of repositioning it! So if you want one head on down to your nearest hardware store & grab one - they are soooooooooooo handy & the actual guns aren't expensive either!

I used my gun to glue the buttons on these {cut the plastic stitching loop off first}. Way easier than stitching them through & flatter too.

I took Chelsea & Jack to a warehouse sale of top surfing brands {very poular with teenagers here...} & bought a bikini bottom {ginormous} for R20...why?!? Well, to cut it up to create these flowers of course! It was really easy, I just cut the cosie open flat, then cut it up into strips & gathered the strips up with a loose hand stitch.

I got 10 flowers for R20! {plus R1 for each button-but believe me those buttons are fabulous} & even got an extra flower out of the gusset!

Then I made some gift pillows & a Valentine's card for DH {let's hope I can still find it by next year - lol- and yup I can see I need to get that bling straight before I do!}

All these papers were offcuts {October Afternoon} & freebies {My Mind's Eye} from one of the prizes I won towards the end of last year.

I felt like fiddling so I made a few cards! Chelsea is always going off to her girlfriends' parties so I thought they would come in handy...

Nothing fancy...just added some of the ready-made die-cuts that came with the MME papers, used my trusty Fiskars Threading Water punch & added the remnants of my Prima velvet floral lace.

I know I should have written on that middle one above but thought it would be more versatile if I left it blank & filled it in when the occassion arose.

I couldn't resist inking a bit but apart from that, there was really NO fuss! And the best part of all is that I now have TEN cards that cost me {virtually} NOTHING & probably saved me close on R200!!! Not to mention that I actually LOVED creating them...

Gotta love Handmade ;-D

Thanks peeps! The glue-gun is really handy for plastics & metals & couldn't live without it for kid's school projects I've seen! Thanks for the tip on Rhonna Pearl - will check out her videos... I have just finished sorting out all my cardstock offcuts & have enough there to make cards for the rest of my life ;-D
