Love You Home Decor Project - Prima - Tutorial

Hi there everyone!  I am so excited to present to you today my first ever PRIMA tutorial!

The focus for this project is the new set of OIL PASTELS from Prima,
in collaboration with Iron Orchid Designs.  You can read about them HERE.

Here is my write-up on the Prima blog - “Love You” Off-the-Page Project –
I chose the smaller Prima Carte Blanch Vintage Wall Décor base for this project,
to show you all how quickly & easily you can create a pretty home décor project,
in just an hour or two!

These wood bases are AWESOME – they are so sturdy & strong.
Without the flexibility of a canvas it makes for easier work & holds many
dimensional elements firmly.  As for the Iron Orchid Designs Oil Pastels –
they are AMAZING!  I had no idea what to do with them when they first arrived,
but spent an evening playing around with them & working out the best way to use them.

These little guys LOVE water!  I dip them straight into my water jar before use
then immediately after applying them to my page I go over them again with
a brush dipped in water as well.  LESS IS MORE here  –  they are
very rich, creamy & concentrated so will last you a very long time.
A fantastic investment! – another absolute WIN from Prima!!”

I was naturally intimidated by the box of pastels that landed on my desk this week so,
before beginning, I spent an hour or so playing about with them on some watercolour
paper, just to see how they worked & what brought out the best in them...

FINALLY my Prima box arrived & was SO FULL of beautiful goodies that finding
some items that matched perfectly was easy as pie!  Including this awesome twine!!

I spent longer thinking up this project than actually doing it!
I wanted to come up with something that was simple to do
therefore easily replicable yet also pretty & fun to make!!

GOLD DOILIES BY PRIMA - yes that is all that needs to be said!!

After all my planning, putting this piece together
was a piece of cake & I LOVE how it turned out!

I would love to teach this as a class!  If only I had more
of everything but alas I had just one of each...

WHAT a stamp!  Another masterpiece from Finnabair!!  GRUNGE DELUXE...

Thanks for visiting today.  I hope you enjoyed the project :)

I've been on the fence about purchasing the wooden wall decor pieces, but I just ordered both sizes - as I love what you have done with your beautiful project. I love the touches of grunge from the stamp, the colors are wonderful and the photo is adorable. The color in the oil pastels that you used on the large tag are lovely! And, I love that you shared how you used them. I was working with them over the week-end - but did not try your technique. Thanks for sharing your wonderful tutorial.

HELEN! This knocked my socks off! I love the gold doily and the bright pretty colors! SUPER NICE JOB! And I love the little scrunched up balls of twine hot glued behind stuff...it's a good point to put that on ahead of time..I always decide I want it after and I'm trying to stuff it in somewhere with the end of a paint brush....
