I took a few photos along the way so I could share a photo tutorial with you too.
1) Select your papers. I used Papers from the Coffee Break Collection
as ""Sugar & Cream" matched the Product Pick image perfectly.
To achieve this vertical composition select another patterned paper
& cut a strip to go down the side. {This also eliminated the
distracting colourful books that were messing with the Colour Scheme}.
2. Trim off a piece of patterned paper about 2.5 inches & adhere it down the side
of your layout, leaving at least one inch between the side of it & the edge of your page.
3. Choose a stencil & use it together with modeling paste & a palette knife to create an
abstract pattern, partially obscuring the strip of paper to help blend the 2 patterns together.
4. Alternate between thick modeling paste & Coloured Texture Crackle Paste
to create some cool mixed media interest. Dry off your paste well with your heat gun.
5) Add some black ink in splats, being careful to restrict
them to the side of the layout on which you are working.
6. Create a fun & eclectic photo stack using only Prima packaging along
with some corrugated box board, grunging up the edges using inks.
7. Remember to tear some of your edges, tuck in some fibres/ribbons & angle some
of your pieces for a haphazard look. Staple your pieces in the middle to make sure
they are really secure. Ensure at this point that you do not make your stack too big.
Keep checking it against your photograph to keep the proportions tight & each layer
stacked closely to the next one for the best effect.
8. Now take some wire thread/thread/twine/string & loop it around into 3 circles
that end up big enough to show underneath your photo stack once it is in place.
9. Secure your thread using precision tipped glue then adhere your photo stack over
the top of it, using your awl to tuck in a few more textures & layers for further interest.
10. Time to get out your glue gun & position your flowers!!
Add your title work & journaling & you're done!!!
Time for some close-ups!
I sponged over my flowers with gesso as a finishing
touch, to mellow everything down a notch.
I loved creating this page & loved the way it turned out too!
I put my title & journaling right over on the opposite side of the page & tied it in by
repeating the stencil design over the edge of the page, along with a few elements
that tie in with my main stack. Thanks for sharing in my Prima excitement today!!
