Hi everyone! I'm a little MIA online at the moment as I am away for a while with my 2 eldest kids, getting them all settled in to university life. We had a very eventful journey here, which included a couple of wrong turns which set us back a couple of hours!! None of us has a great sense of direction LOL! We are all quite exhausted as it is very hot & we don't have the luxury of air-conditioning, like we do at home!! I'm sitting in a coffee shop right now {in order to get me some wifi!} enjoying a "Freezachino"which is a very icy coffee!! YUM!!!
Today I'm sharing my Scrap Around The World layout with you in full.
Above is our FEBRUARY MOOD BOARD by Christin Gronnslett of Norway.
Very cool isn't it?
2 REVEALS A MONTH NOW with the 2nd one coming up on the 16th.
We also have our WINNERS ANNOUNCEMENT HERE from January - we announce on
the 4th of each month - it's tough as the voting & correlating of votes is a mammoth task
but it's best to get it out of the way rather than keeping people waiting weeks on end...
What I love about challenge sites is that one really gets an opportunity to just play
& get creative! There is no pressure to showcase any particular product & it also
provides a great opportunity to use up that excess stash that we all accumulate.
I used some old Fancy Pants mottled paper for my base, which I spattered lightly
with Lindy's Stamp Gang mists & some stamped gesso circles. The lovely
printed & die-cut butterflies are ones I've had in my stash for a couple of
years now, won in a RAK & sent all the way from Malaysia:)
As usual I layered up a number of eclectic elements underneath my photograph.
Flowers {from Prima of course!}, half a large doily from Etsy, as well as a pack of stickers
from My Mind's Eye {Quite Contrary Collection} & some gold thickers from American Crafts.
I like to go for the "non-obvious"route with our mood-boards, to show our players that they don't have to do a traditional Valentine's layout for example. I also like to work with the
photos I have already to hand, that I print in batches, as that streamlines my work process.
Here I used a Bella Flower from Prima that I sprayed with Lindy's Stamp Gang mist then
edged with Prima {Ingvild Bolme} ink then pushed into an archival ink pad for the black edging.
I created a double bow with some red/gold off-cut ribbon, in keeping with the colours.
I also used a beautiful hand-made embellishment above my flower, sent to me by my
sweet online friend, Mitra from America, which I have been saving for the perfect page!
I added in a few flower stems - twisted into tendrils, & a couple of Maya Road
stick-pins. They are great for adding in some extra tactile interest.
Lastly I used some Webster's Pages "Bloomers"ribbon {off-cut} tucked in above my photo
& some black rubber mesh at the side {this is great for bringing in a bit of black here
& there when necessary to balance things out}.
Our challenge runs until the very last day of February, & closes at midnight EST.
We have some fantastic prizes as usual. Check out our reveal post for details
of those or scroll down to my previous post.
