Hello Hello!! Yes I am still HERE!!!
Schools went back today {our academic year starts in mid-January here}
so 2 out of 4 kids are back to a routine now & soon my older 2 will be
heading off again to university. So things will eventually calm down!
Here are the close-ups of my Scrap Around The World layout this month,
based on our current mood board. You still have 2 weeks to play
along & we have some fabulous prizes on offer as usual!
I used a photo I took recently, of my daughter's best friend, Georgia, as she LOVES the beach, so the mood board
reminded me of her straight away.
I was also really inspired by the soft pinks & the embossed flowers on the teacups, which prompted me to dig out some old die-cut floral paper by Basic Grey, which I sprayed pink {using the reverse side}.
The rustic baskets inspired me to use the beige netting incorporated into my layers & the raw wood furniture prompted me to use the 2 Crafty Chipboard pieces, leaving some of them in their raw state.
The flowers in the basket inspired me to use the rosemary wreaths fussy-cut from the Prima Optimist papers & I chose to use chipboard Hibiscus flowers as they are typical tropical flowers.
My doodling was inspired by the teacup designs & my messy twine bow by the bottom right image in the mood board. I also used plastic pebble embellishments inspired by the same image.
My base paper is 7 Dots "Messy Head" - Beautiful pale papers, which I sprayed lightly with Lindy's Stamp Gang mists in Cotton Candy Pink, Pretty in Pink Pink (from their new "Totally '80's" Collection} & Azure Sea Asters {blue}Starburst Sprays.
2 Crafty chipboard pieces used are:- Chicken Wire 6" Sakura Flowers, Summer Leaf Stems, Chicken Wire Panel. Embossing Powder used on Flowers is Lindy's Stamp Gang - Hydrangea Blue Mauve.
I added in some vellum & some dry-wall tape as
I love layering but wanted to keep a light feel.
Journalling cards are also from 7 Dots Messy Head
Collection. I tore some elements for a casual feel.
The black & white elements come
from Prima - The Optimist Collection.
I used the "You & Me" sentiment & tied my journalling in by
documenting some of the things the girls have in common.
Lots of layers but still relatively flat so
practical for storage in an album sleeve.
I use a Ranger embossing dabber for my embossing
{as opposed to an embossing pad} as I love the random,
uneven look it creates, where some of the piece is left raw.
Thanks for stopping by today!! Happy Hump Day!!!
