'Beautiful Memories' Layout - SATW May Challenge - Scrapmatts/Prima/Kaisercraft/Pink Paislee

Firstly a massive THANK YOU to everyone kind enough to leave me a lovely comment here yesterday after reading about my big news, and to my Facebook friends too for making me feel like a celeb for a day :-D  It was such fun!!!  Not to mention the ongoing HEAP of comments rolling in over at SATW - phew!  Relief!!  (One always wonders if something will 'work' or not!!)

I owe a massive bunch of comments to my online friends but had to sleep yesterday after SATW finally went live... Let's take another {closer} look at my Scrap Around The World layout after the excitement of yesterday's announcement!

I was totally inspired by both the sketch & the mood board here & incorporated many similar elements as a result.

As soon as I came across this photo I knew I could build a page around it as I wanted to bring out the pinks & purples of the flowers in the mood board so a girl page was great!

The patterned paper is Kaisercraft - Secret Admirer - Demure (B side) - I often prefer the muted colours of the b-sides as they provide a great base for mixed media background pages.

I used some wonderful new Scrapmatts chipboard words for my title (brand new releases), as well as many more of their pieces (the big clock face that represents my circle, the smaller clock face & hands, the shells, star-fish & oh so trendy anchor. ALL of these are available in their online store here).

I got my background groove on with some Maya Road 'Charcoal' mist, some of my own tea & coffee mix (for reals!!) plus various other stamps with different shades of brown ink.

I used a text stamp very subtly on my base.  The thread is from my sons' discarded clothing (free!) & the enamel dots are swoon-worthy new My Mind's Eye releases.

I painted my chipboard with gesso to prime/reduce absorption then used distress stain, inks & glitter varnish for pimping :)

I misted some gauze then layered it up with the chipboard, Pink Paislee artisan shapes, Prima Corinne Flowers & some plastic gridcloth from our potatoes :)

I hope you will find some time to play along at my challenge blog - Scrap Around The World - this month - Agnieszka & I have lined up a selection of awesome prizes!

That gorgeous aqua shade on my lace offcut is Blue Hydrangea - another must-have mist from Maya Road.

I tucked in some gold & white lace sent to me by dear Mitra from the US!

Thanks for stopping by today!!  Challenge closes midnight EST on 25th May - hope to see some of you there!!
