'Precious Memories' - Purple Pumpkin Sketch

Happy 1st day of the month & Happy April Fools Day!!  Hope you haven't fallen for any silly practical jokes yet.  Living in a house full of teenagers I'm sure they have something up their sleeves for me :) Well a new month brings with it new sketches - yay!!  Let's start with the April sketch from Purple Pumpkin!

I love simple sketches!  It's always nice to be able to put your own spin on things!!  Well I found the most hilarious photo of my kids from a few years back.  They just look so geeky, I can't help but laugh when I look at this & of course they are mortified that I am sharing it on the internet!! {clapping hands!!!}

I used some cool old ledger paper from Crate Paper & cut up some very cool Authentique bingo card paper to ground my photo & embellishments.

I started by splattering on some Maya Mist in Charcoal {one of the most useful mists you could ever own...}. I inked those edges up with Dark Brown from Colorbox {one of the most useful chalk ink you could ever own...}

I layered up all my pretties from Purple Pumpkin.  If you are an embellishment addict like me you really ought to have applied for the Design Team at Purple Pumpkin, but if you didn't {the call is now closed sadly} but I did give you all a heads-up on it a couple of times!  No worries as you can buy all you want HERE.

I added in some doily flowers that I also inked up {I punched them from a Martha Stewart punch I bought locally a while back}. They add a nice, layered effect to my cluster I think.

This year I've decided that hand-journaling is often the way to go - authenticity is what it is about for me.  I want heartfelt pages that are fun to create & not a time consuming chore.

I inked up my chipboard title from Scrapmatts - you can buy their stuff HERE.  To get this effect I press the cat's eye inkpad directly on top of the chippie, intentionally leaving some areas raw.  Then I paint over with my clear glitter nail varnish :)

I have been REALLY pressed for time this month so I gave myself a challenge to complete this layout in an hour and I managed!!  It's a great challenge to set yourself - you should try it!

As always your layout is just great. I love your hand writing I mine was as nice I would use it more often , tho i do use it to go down the side of a layout that way it cannot been seen so easily . I will practice tho as I do think it looks more "handmade'

I was thinking what a cute sketch and then noticed the picture was of the kids when they were younger, they look so cute Helen. Great job on the page hope you didn't get to many pranks. I suppose for you the worst case would be to walk in your scrapping room and all your stuff was gone...lol Dont know what I'm laughing at I would be horrified íf mine did that.

Such a great page Helen...and yes, in 6 years the children certainly change quite a bit!;-) I love your handwriting and it's great that you are journalling in it...think I must do that a little bit more...but mine is nowhere as cool as yours! ;-)
