'Precious' Layout - Purple Pumpkin {The Scrapbook Store April 2013 Sketch} Dear Lizzy for American Crafts/Pink Paislee/Prima

Hi Everyone :)  Tuesday already!  My weeks only seem to get busier but I've got myself 'into a groove' and if I stick to my routine I can keep up with all the new developments in my life.

I used the sketch from The Scrapbook Store as I ♥ the sketches & live in hope that one day it will be ME that is the winner of $40 worth of stash PLUS free postage!  I rotated the sketch one turn to the right (clockwise) in keeping with my photo orientation.

You can see my post up at Purple Pumpkin HERE.  Check out the blog this week - we have some new designers!  Woot!!  And of course our sketch challenge is going on all month as usual!

I used navy cardstock for this one - to make my central area of photo/embellishments 'pop'!  I had a tiny bit of dried up white acrylic paint in the bottom of a tube I'd already cut open & used what I could out of - so I used the dregs to create this white vignette effect around my elements.  LOVE how it turned out!

Vibrant colour schemes are my favourite (as Stacey Julian says 'Life's too short for beige!') so I decided on Navy, yellow, lime & deep pink, with some teeny variations in the embellishments.

I tried something new & interesting with my Purple Pumpkin embellishments this week.  I actually dry-brushed over them with white acrylic paint & it proved to be a good way to tie many different colours and prints together.

Loads of Purple Pumpkin loveliness here as usual.  The navy spotty buttons, the denim flower, the XL rose button, the crochet flower, 2 cameos, resin flower ticket offcut, as well as the felt die-cut circle from a Limited Edition Kit.

I made a frame for my photo using the free corrugated tissue-wrap that comes on the top of biscuits in a large tin.  I inked it up in several different colours first & cut out the centre so I could place the photo behind the frame (that way the photo would remain flat rather than becoming wavy when placed on top of the corrugated paper).

Thanks so much for swinging by today!
Remember not to throw away your paint until you've cut the top off, 'pegged' it with a bulldog clip & used it until dry-brushing is your only option :)

 Gotta suck the most out of life I say!! {and paint!}

A really cool idea to use the white paint on the dark background paper to create a vignette... and then to tie it all together... Lovely layout with fabulous colours.

This page was almost a bad influence this morning! All I wanted to do was cut those Tim Holtz flowers! I do so love the white you added. I have done that before but it makes me nervous until I'm done and then I love it! This is a great color combo, nice and bright love it!

Loving the dark background here Helen, it really makes all those other colours just pop out at you. The white adds a nice soft touch.
