Key Ring Tutorial {My Creative Scrapbook} Limited Edition Kit - Prima/Pink Paislee

It’s always handy at the end of the year, to have a few small gifts to
hand to save the embarrassment of not being able to reciprocate
if someone surprises you with something!

These little keyrings make great gifts for people like your hairdresser.
Something inexpensive yet made with love & so personal.

You could make tags using a similar method but I chose these Heart-Shaped Keyrings as they seemed more practical. Perhaps a bit delicate for everyday
use but certainly something someone could dangle from their bedroom
door for example, to make a really pretty feminine décor style statement.

I found these key rings online but you could just as easily supply your local hardware/DIY store with your own template & have them cut as many
as you require from thin plywood or do it yourself using your jigsaw!

 I had just enough left-over flowers & off-cut pieces for 4 keyrings
&  they took me an afternoon to complete.

1.  Gather together the left-overs from your kit {flowers/stickers/ribbons/papers}
2.  Use small pliers to remove the keyrings from the hearts.
3.Paint ONE SIDE of the hearts with white acrylic paint then use a skewer to open up the holes again.
4.  Paint the hearts using pale pink acrylic paint all over with a darker shade around the edges, & add white acrylic paint to tone it down.  If you like texture apply your paint thickly to create waves as shown.
5.  Once dry seal with Acrylic Medium {Glossy}.
6.  Shake over some clear glitter while the medium is still wet.
7.  Your backs are now complete - wait to dry or dry gently with a heat gun.
8.  Using one heart as a template cut 4 hearts out of your patterned paper.
9.  Ink around the edges of your patterned paper hearts with pink ink.
10.  Adhere your patterned paper hearts to your wooden hearts using a strong glue, then trim around your hearts if necessary, shaving off any extra paper pieces so you have an exact fit.  You can also sand the edges lightly at this stage if you are really picky like me!  Re-ink if necessary & use your paper piercer or a skewer to reopen the holes at the top for the keyring.
11.  Now is the time to embellish!  Have your gluedots & glue at the ready & some foam-core or thick card to add dimension between your layers.
12.  Cut up your die-cut pieces into smaller bits & use your sentiments from the Prima packaging too - start layering up your embellishments onto your keyrings.
13.  Here I  cut a corner off one of the die-cuts & lifted it up with some foamcore board.
14.  Next I cut down one of the stickers and layered it on top of the die-cut piece, also raising it up with foam-core board.
15.  Now add your flowers using strong glue-dots or hot glue (I inked mine lightly).
16.  Cut some strips off from your Pink Paislee Artisan Element squares & ink lightly with pink then add to the edge of your stickers, together with some Prima packaging sentiments underneath your top flower.
17.  Re-attach your keyring with the help of your pliers then thread some organza ribbon and lace through the last link & tie in a bow then glue-dot down for extra strength.  Your keyring is now complete!  Make up another 3 using the same idea but switching up the placement of your embellishments!  Have fun & be creative!!
