Tutorial - P.S. I Love You Layout

Hello scrappy people!  Today I have a mini-tutorial
to share with you on how I put together yesterday's
page.  It was very simple to do as you will soon see!

I rarely order more than one sheet of the same paper.
It's sometimes difficult for me to see online what the
paper will look like 'in person'. So, often I use this
method to get to use both sides of double-sided paper
without actually purchasing two sheets of the same.

White cardstock is always a winner.  A white base is a
sure-fire, no fail way to begin & will also help you attain
that sought-after 'signature' style that I am still striving
for LOL.  Ink also kicks things up a notch from drab to
fab.  I see it's not as popular with new scrappers these
days but I say add a couple to your cart each shop & see...

I don't buy a lot of masks.  They aren't really expensive but
I always think to myself 'how much use will I get out of this
item' (cost per use in other words) so I buy a large (12inch)
or 2 small (6inch) masks per CHA release (twice a year).
You really can use the same one over & over again if you
go for simple background designs like bricks or chicken-wire.

I like to leave at least an inch or two of white (or background
colour) showing.  White space is as important as busy space
& a cluttered look is off-putting.  I enjoy filling up my layouts
but still use the 'If in doubt leave it out' ethos if I am unsure
whether to add something to my page or not.

Who says you can't use 10 photos on a page?  Don't look
cluttered to me...!!!  Obvies keep them smallish - these
are 4 x 6 cm so similar to Instax size though you could
probably only do 8 of those as they're a bit bigger...

6.  Hand-journal around the edge of your page (within the
frame as I have done).  Use one of your shape punches to
add some very economical embellishments then strategically
place some stickers around your page & cut up some die-cuts
to place around the edges of your centre area.  I cut my
punched strip the whole length of the page so I added
another couple of bits to 2 more places on my layout.

7.  Add your title vertically down your punched strip.
Add some bling to your butterflies & some buttons
and twine if desired (for dimensional scrappers like me).
Hope you enjoyed my Build-a-Page tutorial!
Have a great week!!

Thanks for the tutorial, it is always a challenge to put so many photos without making LO cluttered, and this one is just beautiful.

Thanks for the fantastic tutorial, Helen. I also do what you've done in step 1 if I really love both sides of the paper...sometimes even using both sides on the 1 layout...it leaves a bit of a gap after distressing etc, but I just back the layout with a bit of CS or PP...& it ususally looks fabbo :)

I don't buy two sheets of the same paper either. Nor do I buy collection packs.

Thanks for sharing your design insights! :)

Don't think I've ever used more than 3 photos on a layout, your multiple ones certainly don't look squashed in or overcrowd the page itself. It looks smashing! Beautiful work Helen! Thanks again for all your absolutely LOVELY messages! have played them several times! xoxoxoxox
