Health & Fitness/Weight Loss Update {Zumba Zumba!!}

Hi girls!  Just a quick update for January!!
So far I have lost a total of 2.2kgs - which is almost 5lbs!
I had set a goal of one pound a week (4 a month) so I am
 ahead of schedule - woohoo!!

As I'm an exercise phobe I decided to aim low to avoid
disappointment - so glad 'cos now I am delighted!!

I only started exercising 3 weeks ago and I am AMAZED
at how much better I feel - AMAZED...The first 2 weeks
were a struggle and I wanted to give up...but I knew I had
to continue (for health reasons) as I really need to get into
 shape.

In such a short space of time I am feeling stronger!

I haven't been following a specific diet plan as yet
(I have a book I am reading about it)
but recorded what I actually ate for a week &
realised there was too much snacking going on!

Now that I am so much more aware of what is
actually going into my body I have cut down a lot.

I am going to an exercise class 3 times a week & have
my daughter's dance teacher swinging by my place on
her way to work the other 2 days, so all in all I am
working up a sweat 5 days a week!

{for the record - I look NOTHING like any of
the ladies in this photo - sob sob...}

Today I tried Zumba for the first time after hearing
so much about it from my friend Mitra
who is a Zumba fanatic!!

It was THE FUNNEST THING EVER and the fastest
30 minutes of my life.  I could have done another class
straight afterwards & I must be one of the least fit people
 on the planet!!

I am sure I looked ridiculous/hilarious but there were
some ladies there at least 20 years older than me so
it just goes to show that Zumba appeals to all ages -
I can't wait to go to another class!!

For any of you wanting to get fit/lose weight
I highly recommend it!  I was really regretting
signing up for it this morning and wanting to cop out
for fear of me making a fool of myself (!!!) but I am
so glad I forced myself to go.

I haven't been this excited about something new
since I discovered blogging 3 years ago!!

What's your keep-fit regime?  I would love to hear about it!!

Fantastic news Helen! I`m so happy for you!
I like classes a lot, I miss Mr Karol, he was taking care of me for over a year:).
Now I walk a lot and do classes on my own.
NO SNACKS - every snack it`s a meal..
No big dinneres, deserts are every now and again, lots of water, no junk food.
Hugs!

Congrats on the weight-loss Helen. Glad you've found some activities you enjoy. I've been trying to motivate myself to get back into going to the gym for months now.

Congrats Helen! That is GREAT!!! I powerwalk every day for an hour. And I don't eat any rubbish (except for the occasional icecream). That's about it for me! Zumba sounds like fun, I've heard alot about it - I think I'd like to give it a try! TFS! Keep up the great work!!! :D

I've just started doing zumba too and I love it! My class is 60 minutes though and it is so much fun. I needed to add some cardio to my routine, and am so over spinning, and zumba is just what I need right now. My goal is twice a week.
I was playing badminton twice a week up until June last year but not sure what happened I just dropped it when the summer came and haven't felt to go back. I also do Pilates twice a week which I ADORE.
Once I get the 4 days a week routine going I'll see if I can add another day doing something else, but step by step... .
So happy for you that you're feeling better and seeing results.

Well done Helen, that's awesome! I found recording what I am eating really showed me how badly I was eating. Daily treadmill exercise is my thing at the moment. A mix between a solid 45 minute walk and building up to a 30 minute run. As you as, it is amazing how good you feel after exercise :). Keep up the great work Helen :).

Well done on losing the weight and well done on sticking to your program. I have a well equiped gym at home and roll out of bed and onto the treadmill first thing in the morning...it keeps my energy levels up and my weight in control.

Good for you! I love Zumba too. I am an on-again, off-again gal but need to get back to a regular routine. Beware, though, you may not be able to lift your arms tomorrow. ;-)

Well done Helen. Glad to hear that you are setting small weight losing goals - the slower one loose the longer it will stay off. The Zumba class sounds like real fun and a nice interactive way of getting exercise - thats why I love my spinning sessions, as it is with other like minded individuals and of course nothing gets one in the mood, like music. Wishing you all the best with your weight/excercise program.
Hugs

That is so exciting Helen and I am so happy that you are actually feeling better for it. Makes all of that work worthwhile. And yes I would love to try Zumba. I might have to find a buddy one day to give it a go. I think I would be laughing too much.

Fantastic weight loss Helen, and how good to find an activity that you enjoy doing. I've been on the weight loss and exercise gig for the past few months. It's hard work hey? but so worth it. Still a long way to go but happy with my progress so far. Been doing group training sessions 4 times a week. Keep up the good work. :)
