Here is the first sketch I got to work on...
As you can see I rotated the sketch one turn to the right as I had these photos pre-printed that I wanted to use.
My printer is DEAD - BROKEN - KAPUT -
and while I wait for it to be repaired there is no more printing of photos for me
{can't do it at a store here easily - for example all that is in stock now is high gloss - no thanks...}
I am ferreting through my 6 months worth of Studio Calico kits & using them up before I sign up for more - so almost everything here is from the June 2011 kit - which is the last one I allowed myself...
That's my rule for kit clubs this year.
Sign up for 6 months then ensure that I use up all of it (all of it that I love at any rate)
before signing up again...good idea huh? Well I think so anyway!
Lovely stash to play with but never a lot of embellishments in their kits so
you really have to think about how to work with the paper
- like this lovely hexagonal print that I fussy cut around the shapes...
I needed to journal a lot - and no printer remember - so had to go with my own hand but kept it simple rather than my other loopy style which is more feminine...
{Yup the journaling is a bit sad but such is life at times & I keep it real...}
And where to get these YUMMO alphas?
Well you just ink them up with an orange inkpad then varnish over them with clear glitter nail-varnish & you're done - pretty awesome huh?!
GOT to LOVE these raw chipboard Thickers!!

Sorry to hear that it's been a tough year for your boy. Hopefully next year is a better one.
Love your page :). I think it's great that you have handwritten journalling on there. I must admit I'm a bit guilty of not doing handwritten journalling too often. If I keep it up my kids will have no idea what my handwriting looks like LOL.
I'll send you a message about your questions too.
Have a great day.

Simply fabulous! And I love how you keep it real...x
Wow! Helen this is just fab! Love the look of all the pics and the beautiful mix!
Just came over from OUA...S ~ LOVED your LO [can't find it here], especially that folded flower & the colours just 'pop'... I agree, journalling is life & life aint always easy ~ just as long as we do our best; but it's always harder when it's our kids... & as for printers.... hope it's fixed soon. Your handwriting is really good, tho! Take care:):)
wow Helen this is outstanding ... love the colour combos and the rich blue and orange are perfect ... hugz x
Oh My, are you hyperventilating? Quick, get a paper bag, breath, slowly slowly. The printer will return. Until then, stay strong....you can make it through....
LOL. I would have a heart attack if my printer was out of action.....or I would just have to run to buy a new one.
Love your page. The sketch is great rotated and fab pics.
Wow love what you've done with the alphas Helen. Very cool! what a great sketch great interpretation.
I love how you keep it real in your layouts. The way you did the title is very cool and the pictures are great. I'm also diggin' that base paper. I've been a member of 3 different kit clubs this year (3 month subscriptions to some, not 6) and have purchased a couple kits month to month. It's hard to find the right fit, but right now I'm at Cocoa Daisy and loving it!
Your journaling is amazing. I like the personal handwriting it provides a more personal touch.
Oh bugger big time about the printer!! Hope it's been resuscitated by now. I so admire you for sticking to your plan of using up your old stash before buying new. And you make beautiful layouts too no matter what you have at hand! have always loved and do love your photos, so real out of life and no fancy posing of the kids. 13 is really such a tough age, but with a mum and dad like you and Shane, he's got the best support there is. Love this heartfelt page with you little big man! xoxoxo
It looks fabulous! Love the colours you used! :)
Hope you get the printer problem sorted out soon.
loving the colors and what a nice pics of your DS.
OH! MY! NO Printer...
GEE! Just hang in there.... LOL!!
BUT I think it's a GR8 thing!!
for the reason of seeing your Handwriting!!! I think it's Wonderful & you should really hand write on all your layouts....
JUST Saying!!! LOL!
YEP! We all have to Search for a Place in this Crazy world...
Love your layout!!

Gorgeous boy page Helen and great pics. xx
Great take on the sketch - love the rotation. ;) I really like how you added your journaling too. It allowed you to add a lot of text and use it as a design element at the same time.
Gorgeous LO, Helen, as always! Love the orange letters, how you rotated the sketch, the journaling and how you use all the "leftovers". Admire the reality touch of the journaling - this is how life is, so why put it otherwise?! Anyway, he´ll love looking back over the years. well done on getting into DT and good luck qith the printer!
