Colour Combos Galore 204 - Fly Away Home Grid Layout {Featuring Pretty Paper Petals!}

Today is reveal day over at Colour Combos Galore & the palette is a bit stronger & more earthy this week.

The Designer's Challenge this week is to focus on GRID DESIGN - eek!  That's out of the box for me!!

The simplest solution for me was to make a photo collage in Picasa - check!  There's the grid!!
I added some ribbon trim all around it to emphasize the lines & used some contrasting cardstock beneath it to emphasize it further.

I chose photos from our Zambia trip in January this year, as they matched with the outdoorsy colours.

As you can see the journaling doesn't tell a very happy tale but when I was looking at these photos that's all I could think about...and surely that is what journaling is all about?
Writing from the heart rather than calling the layout "Happy Families" & hiding the truth that will form a part of our family history?

Finally I received my first parcel from PRETTY PAPER PETALS, the flower & embellishment company whose Design Team I am on.
I used this beautiful cotton lace bloom to soften up my grid.
See my new vine punch?!
Yay I don't have to use the giant starburst flower one every time any more!

I came up with my title based on the fact that it has not been decided whether the separation will be permanent or temporary, and obviously we want it to be the latter...

Supplies List:-

Blue & Green cardstock - American Crafts
Printed Papers  & Journaling sticker- Sassafras Lass Indie Girl
Ribbon - stash
Vine punch - Martha Stewart Crafts
Faux stitching - using Shachihata Artline 200 - Fine 0.4

It is a beautiful page Helen. Love the gird for the photos. Wonderfully embellished.

I'm all for being real on my pages. Documenting what actually happened even though I always end on a high note, preferring to focus on the brighter side of life.

Great job with the grid. I have made one once or twice, but I was trying to create many scrap pages at once for friends who all attended the same event and I needed the process to be quicker. You left yourself enough room to add all the pretty details on. I really like that lace on the edge on the bottom where you rumpled it around the journalling tag. It is a serious message, but an important one.I really like the colors on this challenge too. The flower is sweet!

Great job with the challenge Helen! The pics are fab for the grid...clever you using Picasa. Scrapbooking is about scrapping life, as it is,...sometimes those times are filled with heartbreaks. Thank goodness that most of life is upbeat and amazing! :)

Awesome interpretation of the palette and the designer's challenge Helen. The reality is that Life is not always full of 'warm and fuzzy' moments, kudos to you for documenting the sad, 'real' events that can and do occur.
