Scrap-it-Lah July Challenge - Football Crazy Boy {Crate Paper Toyshop} Layout

Yet again we are in another new month & that brings with it new challenges, including scrappy ones!  So here is my latest creation for Scrap-it-Lah!  You can read all about it here & have a look at all the other Design Team's work, which BTW is awesome!!

So the challenge for this month of JULY is:-

1)  To use FIVE PHOTOS
2)  Photos must be a mixture of black & white & colour photos
3)  There needs to be VISIBLE JOURNALING on the layout

That's it!  Now if you can manage that you stand a chance of winning a fabulous RAK full of Bo-Bunny goodness.  To tempt you further here it is!
Now last month we had a total of THREE players.  Why?  When you can win a RAK like this, based on the merits of your work??  C'mon girls...you have the whole month to complete it too...

This little site needs your support.  Every month there is a GREAT challenge, the DESIGN TEAM are all just  AWESOME SCRAPBOOKERS and there are MERIT PRIZES every month - comprende?  Go Play!

So here is my entry.  You can click to make my photo bigger to read my journaling if you like.  I have had to block out some personal information pertaining to my son's football club, etc, but almost all the journaling is on show & I am happy with how I managed to fit in so much of it without it looking like an essay on the page.

Now you all know I am no huge fan of "Boy Stash" but if it's made by Crate Paper you can be sure that I will LOVE it, 'cos they just rock it all, everything they do is awesome, and this "Toybox" range is no exception!

I told my son Reilly a little story on this page, and that is very important in this day & age when scrap booking can turn into an art form where heart & soul is often left out in favour of proportions, etc.  My goal is to combine the two, not always easy but not impossible...

Working with one paper line {everything from the same line/range} takes all the time & guesswork out of putting a page together & I did this just before I left for my week away, so I needed to just get on with it & not faff around digging for stash.

I added some new black canvas thickers & some Pebbles buttons & that's was it!  Then I computer journaled using 3 different colours, in keeping with the bright page.

I raised up some of the journaling for a bit of dimension & interest.  For this multi-photo layout I first converted a couple of my photos to black & white then I selected another 4 photos & put them all together in a Picasa Collage.  Once the collage is formed you can click & drag the images around to change the placement if you want, and also keep clicking collage to see all the different configurations of sizes within the collage.  Definitely very quick & easy & I doubt any other photo-editing program is so simple!

No blog-hopping for me today unfortunately.  I have been in my inbox sorting, replying, filing & deleting 500 e mails {as I had several I had to search for!} so things are looking slightly healthier there now, and now I have 5 layouts due in over the next 3 days & visitors arriving from Gaberone & Malawi tomorrow.  Eeeek!  I've gotta get outta here & back to my scrap counter!!   My visitors are staying a week so I really don't know how I am going to do what I have to do if I don't get it finished before hand but will try my best to sneak in here to keep up to date if poss!

Printed papers:- Crate Paper "Toybox" Sports & Explore

Buttons - Pebbles

Helen, this LO is just awesome! I love how bright and fun it is! The black title and asterisks really pop off of the page! I love how you made this masculine, I seem to struggle to leave flowers off of any page these days!

Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving that kind comment ... much appreciated! I'm over the moon happy to be designing for The Paper Variety ...hopefully that will lead to more DT's in the future!

Cheers-

Pam

This is so fabulous. So bright and the photos look awesome. Love the red in his clothes against that range of papers and the couple of sepia pics. I cannot believe how many photos and journaling squares you have used yet it doesn't look cluttered at all. Great work.

That's quite a challenge but you make it look so easy as usual ! ;) great story there too .

p/s - re : my card stash - some are given away , some get sold but mainly to DD's friends and some are still in my stash . ;) Hoping not to buy too much paper again this CHA Summer season . That's why I'm using my papers more for cards.More practical.

Gosh! that is a really generous prize pack! Today's MIL's 86th birthday so the entire day will be spent taking her on a tour to special places she wants to visit. Fantastic the way you combined patterned and shapes on your busy. It's so well designed that the five photos just pop against the background. Hope you'll link it up to my Little Boy themed challenge here http://angsandy.blogspot.com/2011/08/sandys-challenge-5.html
