Colour Combos Galore & More!

Yay!  I made it onto the Colour Combos Galore Design Team!!  As you probably know I have been a faithful player there all year  {and a pretty regular one since I discovered the site in 2010} & really enjoy the community there.  There are around 4 000 members but obviously fewer regular players, almost all of whom I can easily say are "blogging pals" of mine now, "online pals" at least!

We were required to submit a vintage/retro/shabby layout based on the inspiration here.  As I am away on a trip right now I can't download & upload all the images & don't have access to mine as I'm on a borrowed computer, so if you would like to see my interpretation you need to look here.  When I am back in Durban I will upload my layout here on my blog.  I'll be honest & say that I was totally stumped for a while as to what on earth to do, seeing as I had no vintage photos!

My family have never handed over one photo album & it looks set to stay that way but fortunately I managed to get hold of a couple my husband found in his office when we were packing up to leave Zimbabwe (as his father used to share his office there at times then left the country & left us to do his packing up for him!).  So YAY!!  I had the PERFECT photos!!!  Putting everything together was easy as I found a great blog called Found In Mom's Basement {just by Googling "Vintage Images"} & there is literally a plethora of useful stuff there.

I downloaded 16 images then made them into an A4 Picasa Collage {sure you can resize them all in PSE if you have the time but with the Picasa collages you can click & drag the images to where you want them & unless you need completely perfect measurements this is SO QUICK & EASY!} then it was just a matter of putting the page together & using the tucking in & layering technique one can instantly create a vintage style page.

I was holding out in faith for the position as I resigned from Scrapbook Challenges when my term was up at the end of June, to make way for one of a few options, then never heard back from one Design Team I applied for & never had time in the end to apply for the other one, so all's well that end's well as I got the spot I wanted the most in any case!

I have a couple of Guest Designer spots coming up over the next few months & have also written an article soon to be published, which I will provide you with a link for as soon as it goes live.

So it's been go, go, go on the scrappy front!  In my personal life I have been very busy too so it has been wonderful to get a couple of earlier nights & later mornings in now that I am away from home, and also to have some time of introspection, to reassess what I'm doing, why I'm doing it & what my priorities are & if they are what they should be.  Of course there has also been a little time for "relaxation therapy" which was also needed {aka a bit of shopping!}

When I am back home next week I'll fill you all in on my time away & upload some photos of the beautiful location we are in.  For now I am freezing in a spare office using someone else's {extremely slow} computer & my fingers feel like they are about to snap off.  Living in Durban means I have very little tolerance for cold, and an almost non-existent winter wardrobe.  I'm hoping now that I have an opportunity to blog hop a bit until it's time for us to leave.

I'm not independent here so am relying on my friend to take us where we need to go & am having to fit in with her plans, so if you don't get a visit you know my browsing plans were cut short.

         ♥♥♥Big blog love to you all ♥♥♥

Hey, Helen. Hope you're enjoying your trip. Thanks for the sweet comments on my blog. You said you'd like to peek into my scrap room. I posted some pics at 2Peas a few years ago. It's a little more crowded now (part of the reason we're buying a new house, lol), but it'll give you an idea of what my room is like: http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/album_display.asp?album_id=53007

The LO is awesome. You rocked it. Wow.
Yes, it is good to get away "from it all" and have a chance to think about things and get some perspective.
I look forward to hearing what conclusions you've drawn and what it means for where you're at now and where you'd like to go next (whether you share on the blog or with me off air :-)
