Colour Combos Galore 195/Sketchy Thursdays

Okay so what I had to do here was slide in with this post, with literally 10 minutes to spare before the Linkitz tool closed at Sketchy Thursdays - talk about cutting it fine!  I actually thought the challenge closed at midnight EST so when I saw it was 10p.m EST I flew into panic mode but not to worry, one of the advantages of living in South Africa is that we are SIX HOURS AHEAD OF EST - so I made it in time!  (It says Thursday on the top of this post but remember that that is South African time, not American time!!)

So what I did is I quickly got the title up & the photos in then published the posts, and now here I am editing it, to add in the text, so I hope this works & doesn't mess up the linky tool!  Sure it will as long as I don't mess with the title!  Anyway, things may be a bit back to front with this post 'cos am only adding the COLOUR COMBO & sketch now!  So here they are!!

A very fresh combo going on this week over at Colour Combos Galore! and a rather darling little sketch to work off happening over at Sketchy Thursdays!

So I only got going on this this evening but was determined to get it in on time as it is the SEVENTEENTH consecutive week that I have entered the Colour Combos Galore Challenge (and my TWENTY FIFTH entry) so I wasn't about to start messing up my track record!  Still need to leave the girls there some comment love but will do that "in the morning" - (it being after 4a.m here already now!) cos I need sleep!!!

I misted over a Basic Grey doily paper with Clover Mr. Huey mist, and stamped with my favourite Kaiser bubble-wrap stamp before layering on my other elements.  If I am really in the mood to create (like I was tonight) I always start with misting followed by stamping, that way I know I will be building up a layout with quite a few layers of dimension, which to me is a good look!

I followed the sketch's layering of the strips idea & the strip journaling by cutting out elements from the Webster's Pages Ladies & Gents Papers & used last Season's "Life's Portrait" journaling cards (which I then cut into strips) for the strip journaling - which I wrote out by hand - then fussy-cut around my loopy letters.

The printed paper is Webster's Ladies & Gents "Tea Time" punched with my large Martha Stewart Shell punch.  I used some WP bloomers ribbon down the side of the main photo, anchored with a WP sparkler & a LYB doily.

The "Designer's Challenge" was to use hot-air balloon images so I have snuck in FIVE there - 4 on the WP fabric fancy & the big grey one is a Studio Calico rub-on.  In case you are wondering why it looks so grainy above look carefully & you will see I used a sheet of WP netting under the photos but over some of the embellishments (I placed the embellishments behind the netting) for a subtle vellum effect.

Supplies:-

Blue cardstock - Colour Mates - Belgium Blue
Printed "red" paper - reverse side of Webster's Pages "Ladies & Gents" - Tea Time
Fussy cut layered elements - Webster's Pages "Ladies & Gents" Framed Beauty (reverse side)
