Once upon a Sketch {The Dawning of a New Era}

Have you checked up on Once Upon a Sketch to see the latest reveal?!  If not go here to take a peek at the awesome efforts of the Design Team.  We had a huge amount of entries again so judging is going to take a few days but keep checking back - you could be a winner!

Finally the boys got their spot in the limelight!  I don't have many good pictures of them {compared to the girls} I chase them around the house with a camera occasionally but I usually get a hand against the lens LOL...teenagers...pffft...

I used up lots of my February Studio Calico kit on this one & misted with my new Studio Calico mist, as well as stamping with my Kaisercraft bubble-wrap stamp {my favourite stamp ever....}Got hold of the hessian/burlap strip recently too.  Should have ordered several...

See the matting around the photos?  Both of those are Studio Calico promotional cards that come together with my kit every month.  Their prints are so pretty that I like to incorporate them into my layouts...got a bit carried away with the vertical strips underneath the photos (Studio Calico sure know how to mix their prints don't they???)
As I misted onto the white cardstock then cut it down smaller & backed it with the printed paper I had a nice little piece of misted cardstock left over, which I cut down & temporarily adhered to some printer (bond) paper using Blutack/Stickystuff then fed it through my printer so the journaling printed directly onto it.

Once Upon a Sketch is a sketch blog with journaling criteria too so the twist this fortnight was to journal onto journaling spots.  I used 3 together (Crate Paper exclusively for Studio Calico) & adhered the misted cardstock journaling piece directly onto the centre of one of the journaling stickers.
I love the happy mix of colours going on here & had fun faux stitching again & tearing & inking a bit too.

I inked the edges of the white with yellow which looks quite punchy!  Used orange on the orange but inks definitely give a slight definition that you can't achieve without them.  The brown circle is a left-over bit of Collage Press that I had lurking around my brown cardstock...

It actually inspired my title because it reminded me of a sun rising (admittedly a rather dirty sun LOL)

Yep, tell me about teenagers, I often get a "face turn" when they see the camera, now you see why I have to scrap their baby picture instead? LOL!
That is a great "catch" of that boy though, great photos and awesome layout!

Great boys page, its a shame boy get over looked when it comes to layouts. Interesting take on the sketch and the papers you have chosen have created so much texture. What impresses me the most is you can still have such a great layout without a trace of prima flowers. Awesome job Helen!!!!

Oh, this is such a stunning boy page Helen! Love the hessian and the way you've bordered it all. Lol! I know what you mean with not getting any good photographs of boys. Girls are just so much more cooperative. :)
