I love the Way you still call me Mummy {Full Detail Post}

Well tonight is the night that Colour Combos Galore closes their weekly challenge (every Wednesday) so there will be a new challenge up soon & I haven't even shared mine (in full) from last week!

I used quite a few paints & mists on my background so thought I'd photograph them all to show you.  (You can see them itemised in my supplies list at the bottom of this post).
I started with a dapply background & added paints & mists to make it even more interesting.  The clear plastic circle you see is a lid off a tub of biscuits I bought (I have a whole basket full of various different sized circles) for use as masks & stencils.

I added some texture paste to my paints to thicken them up a bit so that when I stamped with the bubble-wrap stamp the circles would come out splotchy & thick.
My top tip for painting is to use a plastic bag under your work (I have a huge one that I keep & re-use)- makes much more sense than paper as nothing gets stuck to it!

Another tip is to use your Embossing Heat Tool to dry your layers.  Of course you could wait for them to dry but I can't (I never wait as I create my layouts in "one hit" - never come back to it or take a few days over it - just the way I like to work & have always done this.)
And if you don't wait/or dry you run the risk of a mooshy mess the colour of mud...so the choice is yours :)

I used another Creative Scrappers sketch so last month I completed all four of their sketches.

The "Designer's Challenge" last week was to add shine to your layout, hence my use of the floating bits of bling, the glossy letter stickers & the sheeny seam-binding.

The glimmer-mists are sparkly too, as is the one pearly paint that I used.  The pretty white flowers are LYB Crepe Paper Lace Stickers.

The miniature doilies are also by Little Yellow Bicycle.  Apparently Martha Stewart also does some but I've never seen those for sale in any of the online stores I order from.

I twisted the ribbon & stapled it on for something out of the ordinary :)

These tiny alpha stickers are Creative Memories ones & may not be available any longer, I'm not sure as their stuff is so difficult to come by (not sold through the stores) but I so prefer the look of them to the teeny square alpha stickers that are around a lot these days.

That hint of orangey peach you see above comes from Tattered Angels "SUNSHINE" mist & is a very versatile colour to have in your stash.

Painted/misted/textured backgrounds are really IN these days.  If you are starting out I recommend the Rangers Perfect Pearls ones as they are really shiny, and the Studio Calico Mister Huey for a more opaque effect.

Tattered Angels mists are gorgeous.  Maya Road mists not so much.  Not so sparkly or special but then again I love their "Blue Hydrangea" colour so I suppose buying a couple of each brand & starting off with 6 - 8 mists would be a good starting point.

Wow, you sure do make them pretty with loads of layers.
I think I am a simpler girl at heart...excluding these delishous inspirations I get from my muses.
