Bird is the Word BEGINNING {Sweet 16 & Your Life is Just Beginning}

So I told you all recently that the new challenge is up at Bird is the Word & that the word of the moment is SUN or SUNSHINE

We got a record FORTY FOUR entries for the challenge that has just closed - the word FOREVER - so this site is really hip & happening - and going from strength to strength!  Great prizes, merit judging, all good things...why not join us...become a follower & play along?!

It is a great challenge site & a really unusual concept - the focus is on one word only - that needs to be incorporated into your layout - really gets you thinking!  And of course you can combine the challenge with a sketch/colour challenge too so it really is win/win - not to mention that there is always a great prize up for grabs & a moment in the spotlight for the winner & 2 honourable mentions each fortnight :)

In case this feels a bit like deja vu I did blog this layout earlier here but I didn't have time to show you all the close-ups or write the supplies list.  I like to do that for my own records, just makes me feel like the layout process is complete - and I love to have a thorough record of what I have got up to & be able to remember what I used, just for myself in case I want to re-order or something you know?!?

You still have time to complete this challenge - it closes in 11 days!

I bought these 2 sheets of paper (the backing paper & the scalloped sheet} online recently just as I was on my way to the check-out!  WRMK...not a brand I buy often but these were too good to pass up :)

All you Glitz Design fans out there will recognise this as one of their latest ranges - Afternoon Muse - and wasn't it just perfect for this layout?!

Those pretty resin roses are from Maya Road - one of my long-time favourite manufacturers - can't go for a season without picking up a bit of Maya Love :)

The little pennant flags of "Fabrics" (Emma's Shoppe by Crate Paper) I made from little offcuts I had lying around on my desk from my previous layout :)

See the bright print under the bookpage?  That's a Studio Calico Promotions Card that they send with each kit (they send quite a few actually & each month they are usually different - so I keep them & use the printed side as opposed to the promotional text).

Must tell you that the paper is pre-stitched - in case you thought I stitched all those loop-de-loops!  No I did not LOL...

Some layouts are a struggle, others just fall into place...this was one such layout!  Gotta love it when that happens...

Who DOESN'T love these October Afternoon alphas?! Just the PERFECT size...

That flower there is a last season Sassafras one - sooooooooo pretty I hope they make more in different colours soon!  I misted that old lace cardstock piece from Basic Grey & added it under the photo - just for an interesting touch - having it peeking out there!

I must say I am just loving all this scrapbooking & blogging at the moment.  The more I have to do the easier it comes...am thankful for that for sure!

Also wanted to say THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart for so many lovely comments recently :)  I am fast & furiously trying to repay all the love between getting my DT/GDT layouts in on time this month so if I've missed a few I'll get there eventually!!

I promised the girls over at Scrapbook Challenges a showcase blogpost for my Earth Day Challenge there recently - Nature in all her Splendour - as all the entries were so wonderful - but alas as yet no time to save all those images & copy all the text.

Trust me - it's in the pipeline though & Paloma (click her name to see her awesome winning layout) your goodies are in the mail - all the way to Brazil :) (Paloma won my April RAK & Stef I am still waiting for your postal address so I can get the March one out to you - ALL THAT PAPER LOL!)

LOL, that is what I wrote the last time, those amazing stitching, oh well, even it is a pre-stitched paper, it still need a talented crafter to make a beautiful layout like this one. Love those little details!

L-O-V-E it Helen! just as Rachael says, it's so fun and bubbly and just perfectly sweet 16!! Was just wondering about the loopy-loop stitching and getting mighty impressed; "isn't there ANYTHING this marvellous woman doesn't master?!". Well, I'm still marvelling at your energy and creativity Helen :)) xxx
