Scrapbook Challenges Next Top Scrapper Round 2 "Makeover"/Get Picky Challenge}

Hello out there!  Hope your week is shaping up nicely...Things are starting to wind down here with the kids finishing school on Friday.  Chelsea is back home & driving me crazy already...watching the KarDOUCHEians {as I call them...}all day, wanting to "look for a job" but not able to rise before noon due to the time home the night before!!!  Aaaah...17 & footloose & fancy-free {I'm quite envious actually...}
So the challenge over at Scrapbook Challenges rages on {we are into week 2 of 4} & the challenge was to be inspired by an older layout & rework the concepts of it in some way.  I took the one above as it had a photo of both my daughters in it & I had 2 new photos in my current folder, ready to scrap, that were the same orientation (one landscape/one portrait).

The idea was obviously to improve upon your efforts, which I think I did.  The finalists announcement hasn't been made yet so I'm not sure whether I made it into the next round or not yet.
Supplies:- DREAM STREET (Baylee's Garden - Garden Grass) backing paper.
                 TREASURES        (Tickled Pink) Pink cardstock around edge.
                 GIRLS' PAPERIE(reverse side of Green Brocade - Paper Girl line).
                 WEBSTER'S PAGES (Secret Garden - Your Life. Beautiful line).
                 PRIMA MARKETING (Pink Pearls).
                 LITTLE YELLOW BICYCLE (Glitter alphas).
                 AMERICAN CRAFTS (white glitter thickers).
                 PILOT (Hi-TecPoint fineliner pen - Pink).
                 COLOURBOX (Toffee) ink.

I live in fear & dread of fussy-cutting (for some strange reason) but really...no need to stress...with a nice, tiny pair of embroidery scissors one can cut accurately, quickly & easily.
Inking the edges in mid-brown gives a better look than nothing at all.  I used up a whole sheet of patterned paper which meant I could layer it over itself, which I did by raising the next layer using foamcore (a plastic based board sold here) that trounces foam dots/pads because you just cut it to size - slightly smaller than the paper you are "raising" & there is no sagging.  LOVE the stuff...

As it wasn't against the rules of the competition to combine my entry with an inspirational prompt I also entered this layout in the "Get Picky" challenge that is still running.  The only rule for Get Picky challenges is to use more than one photograph & the current challenge is to draw inspiration from the photo - or the Audrey Hepburn quote contained therein.I love this quote & have had a section of it in my blog side-bar for some months now.
I've wanted to do this scallop-punch layering for a few months now so took the opportunity here.  I punched 10 strips,inked them for some definition, then layered them up on top of one another.  Simple.  A bit time-consuming, yes, but so worth it don't you think?!
