Happy Faces!

School holidays started this week - woohoo! It seems that for many mums here that's not a cause for celebration but I for one actually enjoy spending time with my kids so am delighted {not to mention the fact that I get to sleep in - major bonus!} In our house it also means DH & I get rather lackadaisical about "the rules" & pretty much anything goes...as long as it's legal & doesn't disturb the neighbours too much lol...We also spend a bit more money on food that we can cook a bit more quickly! In other words, junk food..."Happy Faces" being a prime example of a firm Tilbury favourite!

Okay, officially theyre called "Smiles" but we call them Happy Faces 'cos they're just so cute you wanna eat them all up! {sorry, that was corny but couldn't resist...}

Above illustrates why it is NOT a good idea to start photographing the food {then progressing on to the rest of the house} whilst said Happy Faces are cookin'... or you'll end up with charred faces!!!

Fortunately for me they weren't all in the pan at the same time or there would have been a lot of "Sad Faces" around here today...

Who can resist those little grins?!? And for growing kids it surely can't be all that bad for them?!?

I grilled porkies to accompany them. Having a decent oven at last is SUCH a treat I must add...

Not a bad effort for me...not known for my cullinary prowess...and yes, there was a salad on offer too!

Then I thought, for dessert, we'd each have a flapjack with jam & cream, purchased from Woollies, an all-time fave supermarket here in South Africa. Note the NUMBER on the packet above...just the right amount for our family...

Only, now count the number you see in the unsealed packet above & you'll see that someone {of course it had to be me...} ended up with a sad face...'cos Woollies only put 5 into that particular packet! The sheisters!! Actually, I'm sure it was a mistake...and of course everyone gave me a bite of theirs so no worries...;-D

Everything looks yummy, especially the sausages.
Your question, what to do with older stash: well I can't bear to use it, just because I ought to. However, I've been giving it away to newbies (who don't yet recognize it is dated) and also it goes into my 4-year-old's stash. She doesn't mind using it, though I have to make sure her eye doesn't catch my new stuff because of course she likes it better than "her" stuff. LOL.
My problem right now is I have A TON of new stuff that I will never be able to use up. A TON.

Thanks for the speedy response! Can you tell I'm having a bit of a marathon pc session here for a change...At the rate you scrap I reckon you just may use up all your stuff! I have to say I'm relieved to be having a breather on the kit front & doubt I'll go the kit route again. It's just too much unless that's ALL you get - but with my roving eye I'm always ordering MORE stuff online aswell...problemo...

Oh yum, now i feel like porkies! My fav (on a soft white bap roll with wholegrain mustard) or ontop of a buttery heap of mash!

Going to try and find those smileys, they look fab!

Ahhh, feeding the troupes over the holidays does my head in at times - good on you for finding some quick solutions. (I would oven bake the Smilies though:))

Oh your yummy food looks yummy... will have to add some of these to my shopping list today.

Now that you have picture proof of Woolies slipup... take it in and you might get some for free... you never know... it's a quality/quantity issue.
