Fridge Settings...{don't worry this post has nothing to do with fridges!}

It has to do with THIS WEATHER!!! I can't stand it! I know, I complain about the heat & humidity & now I'm complaining about the cold...okay, so I'm not easy to please! Born & bred in Rhodesia {now Zimbabwe} I thought perfect days {& nights} almost all year round were the norm. What??? I really did okay?! I knew it snowed in some parts of the world but I just thought they were really far away & stuff...Just kidding, I'm not an idiot but am suffering from a severe case of brain-freeze....The temperature here being about 11 degrees as I write - may not be a big deal to you but to me it is positively unworkable, or should I say, impossible to do any work in?!? We have no central heating. I own one scrotty heater that makes the house stink of fish {strange one that...} & no winter wardrobe {never needed one before now...this being the coldest Durban winter in the 5 years I've been here!}

I popped in on Heidi's Christchurch weather widget & gasped in horror when I read ZERO DEGREES - that is NOT a temperature - I'm sorry...THAT is a fridge setting! Much as I am intrigued with The Garden City things are going to have to turn positively vigilante here for me to join you there my dear...is it warmer up North?! Please say yes - being African one always needs a back-up plan! Sjoe...toooooooooooooo chilly...and all my compatriots are complaining of the same malady..4 degrees in Joburg, snowing in Cape Town, 10 degrees in East London...where is the love???

I had high hopes for making it into the scrap-room yesterday, thwarted once again by my {only just} part-time job as family chauffeur to one very full-time student & one very popular son...followed by mountains of paperwork needing filing for my other job as renovations manager. Then it dawned on me that as household pre-requisite procurer I'd have to hit the Hyper too or we'd have no milk for tea & THAT would not be acceptable to even myself! Add dealing with the eejots { x3} who never arrived AGAIN{yawn}, by the time I'd rustled up game food {World Cup here} to feed the 5000, washed up, dried up & put away so the kitchen looks tidy for the maid when she arrives {go figure....I'm dumb like that...} All I could do was rustle up a blog post not a layout!

Today was pretty much as frustrating as the day before...and so the cycle continues...depressing really...

The spirit is willing but...

What with feeling freezing, permanently ravenous & deflated about ever finding a plumber that arrives as arranged I'm not much in the mood for much else but electric blanket, bed & DH's new laptop. Woohoo for technology at least! Perhaps digital scrapbooking is the way to go for me...haha...just kidding...with that new scrap-room waiting...I'll get there...eventually...

No layout but I got a good laugh! (that's good!)
Can you ask them to stop blowing those vuvuzelas? It is totally turning me off watching the matches--they sound like loud mosquitos through the telly!

Hey we might have zero degrees but we did have sunshine with it. LOL. They are the best days in winter and I bet I'm warmer than you are even with my current 4deg!!! ROFL. Didn't NZ do well in the soccer - big excitement and our news is all about those vuvuzelas too.

Skattebol - our temps here in Stutt have not risen above 2 for the last 3 days. So, 11 is fairly warm still! The only place to be is bed!

LOL Helen I am relishing in the cold Durban temps (must be my English blood) and I dig out my faithfull few "overseas" warm clothes that are kept in the top of my cupboard !!!! I must admit to wearing winter pj's last night & it was lovely. Winter brings blue blue skies & clear crisp days and they are far too few.

LOL guys...I know I must be a wimp! I am not geared for it 'tis all. I looked around at Gateway today for winter clothing but I find it so restrictive. Nothing baggy & comfortable around ;-( Jenny I LOVE the autumn weather at around 20degrees. I love the clear crisp days & agree that they are too few & far between but yesterday was baie koud!!! I dug out the oil heater & my house stinks like a fish & chip shop again but at least I am feeling warm! Vicki I've no doubt you are all warmer there in NZ as I think you have underfloor heating & insulation, plus your blood has thickened over all the years! I can't imagine sun @ 0 degrees - yesterday the sun was nowhere to be seen here - just "white-out" sky...Diana/Vicki - the vuvuzelas are awful, although I must say I am getting used to them now & not really "hearing" them anymore as they are being blown all over the place, not just at the matches. They have been banned from the shopping centres now. If only they sounded slightly more musical but they give off such an undignified low bellow!!! My kids are crazy for them so can you imagine what it's like for me?!

ROFL - yes I do believe it is warmer up north my dear - but then they have the yuck humidity in the summer, so you can't really win...woke up to minus 2degrees this morning, but the sun is shining, and it aint snowing! (your house isn't insulated - in ANY way?? insulation is not just for warmth, but to keep out the heat too...).(ps I don't know that my blood likes being called thick!!LOL).

LOL Heidi I guess it's always 6 of one & half a dozen of the other eh?! I don't know much about insulation - houses here just bricks & windows! No special layers or double glazing, etc...sjoe Lynette...hope it warms up for us all soon! (But not too much of course...heehee...)

Gosh I do wish to experience cold weather as Msia is summer all year long except every now & then we have hard rain that can cause flood, that will normally be towards year end. I love that Waka Waka song, love how Shakira sang it beautifully :)
