Quiz Results & a Glimpse into my Life of Late.

Good Monday to you all! First up are the results of my Friday Fun Challenge that has been running for the last 3 weeks. I upped the ante last week with an altered bird by JENNI BOWLIN & it proved too much of a challenge for most of you, except for Vicki & Cathy. Well done you two clever women for knowing ALL the answers 3 weeks in a row. I had Reilly "randomly generate" a name out of the mixing bowl {not very techno I know} & Cathy is the lucky winner of a pizza box FULL of goodies!!! I will photograph them asap to record here on my blog {I should have done it weeks ago - my apologies} & send them off to you asa I get your postal details Cathy - so please e mail me! Congratulations to you AND Vicki for clearly being "in the know" as far as your scrappy supplies go & wish I had enough goodies to give BOTH of you Vicki - but hopefully you will enjoy the goodies already on their way to you within Heidi's surprise package - I ended up finding quite a few things for you ;-D

Moving on to my weekend...phew it was a busy one! It started nice & early with me feeling pretty guilty that I had veered so far off course last week & determined to get back on track. I decided the time had come to attack any UFO & WIPS {hee hee...some of my blog readers will know what I'm on about here} - ie:- Unfinished Objects & Work in Progress{es} now that we are already in September & the end of our school term here is drawing to a close. A couple of years ago I bought a printer's tray in the shape of a house...very sweet...and the idea was to fill each compartment with memorabilia, photographs & embellishments & make a true Tilbury treasure. Well I got as far as limewashing it bottle green {then put it in the cupboard...therein lay my mistake} so I dusted it off & thought I'd just take a peek at Ali Edward's "Life Artist" book purchased a couple of years ago - for some inspiration. I had actually bought the "house" soon after the book - at the end of 2007 - because of a project she showcases therein - on page 38 - where she jazzes up a printer's tray beautifully.

Well half an hour later I had moved waaaaaaaaaaaay beyond page 38 & was totally inspired & now totally off on another tangent! I started what I thought was a well-organised & SIMPLE project & am still up to my eyes in it LOL! Hopefully I will get to finish it tomorrow as it is my scrappy morning with my friend Jacqui...until then...you are in suspense...so for now here are some recent photographs to make your visit worthwhile ;-D I spent Friday afternoon at Gateway {local huge mall} with Chelsea looking for 2 birthday gifts for her friends & some new clothes for her, but "en route" all the way I was on a flower hunt. I have lots of daisies but am tired of their thin petals & was looking for something more "rosey" but the roses were too "buddy" and 3D to work on scrapbooking pages. Then I came across Gardenias on sale at Sheet Street - reduced from R40 to R20 {R40 being overpriced IMO...}so I bought this beauty which I have since pulled apart into 4 flowers, each with 3 layers...plus all the leaves. The stem makes rather a good whipping stick too, just BTW... ;-D

I found a box to stand my 2009 offcuts in {yes I have tons more old ones that need sorting too...} but never got to do that job because a little furry person spent much of the weekend keeping me company in the box - the pile you can just see behind the box are the offcuts that are still there...hopefully I can get them in when she is outside "adventuring"...

I had my camera out a lot doing my best to record my project step-by-step & could never get it put back in it's place...because "so & so" here decided my camera space made another great place to investigate.

This one below couldn't wait for me to come to bed {yes...I have been up late again} so decided to keep my place warm for me ;-D

Aaaaaawwwww.....

Last week Cami made a Jelly-Tot {local sweets/lollies/candy} structure which I thought was really clever, and from the look on that cute little face I think she was rather chuffed with herself too LOL!!!

They worked in pairs & her friend supplied the tray as we only have a couple of rectangular ones. She is in her school uniform {just in case you think her dress sense is as bad taste as that tray...}

Last Friday was "Posy Day" and, as flowers here cost a fortune {ave R100 - USD13 per bunch} & we have none in our garden - only foliage plants - I had to be inventive with just a few rosebuds Chelsea had been given at school earlier in the week, on Spring Day. I took a glass Ceres juice bottle as the base for each posy, wrapped each in a LARGE square of wrapping paper & gathered it up with an elastic band at the neck, then decorated with swathes of pearls from the girls old bead curtain {it eventually broke in SO many places that it looked dreadful hanging in their doorway}. I had kept it in a zip-lock bag waiting for the right project to come up. I added some off-cut ribbon around the widest part & decorated the top section with some bead-threaded wire strands that were originally napkin rings. {I decided to get rid of them as how often do we use cloth napkins???...never...}. I untwisted the strands, separated them, then twisted them around the bottle neck & upwards & outwards in a crazy frenzy. Lastly, I added a giant bee that I adhered to the end of a straw - have NO idea where said bee originated....but all that matters is Reilly & Cami were delighted & hopefully my "posies" gave the old folks a smile too ;-D {The prefects take the posies to old-age homes & distribute them}.

Definitely not prize-winning paper-crafting but made for a great bonding time with my 2 youngest & fantastic photos outside early in the morning before school!

Fun J-T structure! My boys still remember (and love J-Ts) in fact they used to call them T-tots

Looking forward to seeing your printer's tray house.

i've been thinking of doing something similar for a while now, even though printer's trays and me should not be mentioned in the same sentence!

Love the jelly tot structure - might have to get my girls to try that too!

Thanks for the love everyone! I haven't even BEGUN the Printer's tray because I got so carried away off on another tangent but I am doing a really cool project right now & will photograph & upload as soon as it is done. Busy week though - 2 sick kids in a row Monday, Tuesday & now I'm not feeling too good myself so here's hoping I can get it done!

Gosh, you sound really busy, Helen!

Looking forward to seeing what you do with the tray.

Cami's structure made from the sweets is very impressive! Perhaps you have a future architect in your midst :)
