Journaling Junkie meets Little Shop of Sketches in September.

Here is my latest assignment over at Journaling Junkie. As the journaling assignment Stefanie had planned failed to arrive from it's creator on time she requested a sketch from Tanya Leigh over at Little Shop of Sketches {where I have recently completed a 6 month design team stint}.
I have linked my layout over there too so have managed to complete a JJ challenge & partake in a LSOS one without even multi-tasking ;-D
I quite liked the sketch as it was a mix of graphic definition meets shabby chic/floral at the side. Unfortunately Reilly was mortally offended at the thought that I could use flowers on his layout so I ended up not being able to enjoy the floral trail down the side of the layout & opted for some brads & an owl {to tie in with the "wise" reference}. I simplified the sketch somehwat to tie-in with the photos I had on hand that needed to be scrapped & personally prefer the simpler version.

I used Bazzill Swiss Dot {Rope Swing} as my backing paper. Never having got around to purchasing a Cuttlebug I have to say I LOVE the embossed Bazzill & am now craving a cuttlebug myself!!! Am already cooking up a plan as to how to acquire one...anyone "out there" with one for sale or able to acquire one for me at a reasonable price please let me know otherwise I may add it to my growing list of "scrappy purchases" for a friend {wink***} who is travelling overseas shortly & has made the fatal mistake of offering to buy me "anything I want" LOL!!! The only thing stopping my list from growing tooooooo long is the fact that I have to pay her back ;-D

As you can see I am still hung up on my Threading Water {Fiskars} punch. Am enjoying my hand-journaling a lot this year & have finally come up with a "font" that I am happy with {as this is actually NOT my hand-writing that I normally use...I have developed it especially for scrapping - reason being that it can be stretched & squashed quite easily to fit into the available space & still look good}. The stickers are the ever so ancient Scenic Route ones I bought for R9!!!! on sale - & I am actually enjoying them - sales rock!!! - okay back to business...The black & green bazzill strips are from my off-cuts that I now keep in my little butterfly tin (remember the one I bought recently at Mr. Price Home?) right on my desktop. Of course if the off-cuts are too large they can't fit in there but I now have a good selection of 12inch strips to hand right when I need them with no hunting involved!

As you can see I did not have an "N" so used a Thickers "N" which adds a nice dimension me thinks. BTW "Bing" is Reilly's nickname & has been for a VERY long time. Apparently now there is a new search engine {very up & coming} "named after him". The torn paper strips I used are Bo Bunny Calypso - floral but graphic. I added the red strips at the top & bottom & the torn printed strips as the layout would have been just too simple for my style without them. For me a layout isn't a layout without some layering - adds an extra dimension.

The American Crafts owl below looks slightly deranged to me LOL but I got him in my Cocoa Daisy kit!

So there you have it. Hope it inspires you in some way!

Helen go over to Treausre Kraft's website - Cuttlebug on special with a free die I think they are about R900 or there about including the free alaphabet die. I have one and it is the best investment I made and it is great as it is not electrically operated so you don't run the risk of othe motor burning out.

Love your layout. :)

Fantastic l/o Helen, your colours are always so great.I spoilt myself with a cuttlebug in NZ (R500 including an alaphabet & some embossing dies) have used it over & over - it beats my slice anyday. Took it to Pilasberg & my sister & I used it all the time. Would really advise a good buy.

Thanks for all the Cuttlebug advice. I have a friend going overseas soon that has offered to buy me some scrappy goodies so probably cheapest to go that route but will check out Scrapbook Factory shop & Treasure Crafts & decide. I love texture & really want to get one of those now - high time! Thanks for all your kind words ;-D
