Free, Arty, a little crazy & Creative (that's my style!)

Many of these layouts have already been showcased here on my blog.

Nonetheless they are all pretty recent offerings ;-D

While I was finally getting around to creating my Picasa online web album I started to notice a pattern that I had never seen before...

I have never had an answer to "Describe your scrapbooking style" & wasn't sure if I wanted to be "pigeon-holed" in any case...

But it turns out I DO have a particular style - and I'm actually relieved about that - 7 years down the line...

I often admire clean-cut graphic layout with the "less-is-more" approach...

But quite honestly that's not how I enjoy creating. My layouts are all about colour, texture & juxtaposition.

They end up layered, with a collage effect, and, you know what, I like it!

So that's my style & I'm sticking with it! It's free, arty, a little crazy & creative...

But most of all it's real & sincere. You can imagine it actually IN a scrapbook rather than an art gallery...

So I'm cool with that. I think there's a place for me "out there" in the big bad world of scrapbooking!

There's no point trying to change my intrinsic, intuitive style - so I'm gonna go with the flow for now...

I love mixing things up...colours, textures, manufacturers, lines...

Cutting, pasting, layering. The more I realise my true style the less interested I become in digital scrapbooking...

Sure, I'll get into hybrid (as I am a bit already) & optimise my computer usage (busy doing that with Shimelle over at TwoPeas right now - my online class-remember?)

But I want to be able to handle, feel & touch my layouts. End up covered in Tombo. Continually have to clean my hands with my faithful old cloth dipped in Benzine. Yes. That, people, for me is where it's at right now.

My next "Off the Page" project repurposes an old cake board. I "painted" the narrow side strip with a thick black marking pen then covered the back with plain & the front with print. Added the oversized photo, then the transparency & "glue-gunned" the vendor-purchased wire heart over the top.

I had fun experimenting with taking the perfect "side-angle" shot of all the "attachments" LOL!

I mixed up all my alpha fonts as usual, American Crafts Thickers, Basic Grey & Making Memories. Oh, and Doodlebug for the date!

I used last year's Basic Grey Urban Prairie - LOVE IT...more layering & scalloping...

And I decided it was high time I attacked my flower stash...attached with giant We R Memory Keepers Grommets...

By the end of it I was just drooling at the deliciousness of it all. Hope my brother & sister-in-law enjoy it - that's them taken care of for Christmas!

Hope you enjoyed looking as much as I enjoyed creating ;-D

I did enjoy looking, very much! What a great post. You just gotta do what comes naturally to you, as you point out. That's what this hobby is all about--expressing yourself and creating for yourself, without parameters or rules from anyone else. Brava ragazza!

POSTED ON BEHALF OF SHAYNE (time-out)

Hi,

been trying to comment since yesterday and i haven't been able to -
obviously my connection is whacked again!

Just wanted to say lovely to see all your LO's together - you do certainly
have a arty/shabby/eclectic feel to your LO's - and it just suits you down
to the ground.

don't stop now!

Have a good week.
