Something to make you cry (in a good way)

This will take you about 20 minutes to look at & read.

There are 42 photographs in total & not all are accompanied by text.

It is wonderful.

It is what I think scrapbooking is all about if you pare it down to the essentials.

Because the photography is so fantastic the simple text is all that is necessary to accompany the photos. I am not sure what format Phillip Toledano has used to display his journal in real life but I visualise a plain black album with the photos enlarged to take up almost the entire page, adhered to white cardstock which has the text printed onto it directly.

If I could tell my stories as effectively as this I would be proud. Perhaps there is a simpler way compared to this commercial whirlwind we are all sucked into...buying, buying, buying...more & more cardstock, paper & embellishments...sometimes forgetting what we are doing along the way.

Kudos to Ali Edwards once again for bringing this to my attention via her blog.

I really enjoyed this mans story and congratulate him on recording it. I however greatly enjoy the process of creating and using beautiful and fun product to do this, so I'm ensnared in all that commercial stuff that scrapbooking entails!

I wholeheartedly agree, scrapbooking is recording our special moments in life accompanied by those once in a lifetime photos ... its not about all the commercial stuff we add.
