Scrapbooking Bracelet - A great way to remember your goals

"The future is not someplace we are going to, but a place we are creating. The paths to it are not found, they are made." [John Schaar]

I found this gorgeous creation here & can't wait to order one! I always call this kind of thing "Scrapbooking jewellery" because it has all the same types of words one finds in word packs of stickers, etc.

I've wanted a word/quote/sentence tattoo for years but with all the controversy surrounding tattoos, particularly in Christian circles re:- marking your body, etc, I've never come to my own conclusion & hence never got one but I admit to loving the idea of inscribing something meaningful on my body for life. What do you think of tattoos? Mine would certainly have to be somewhere that wasn't visible once I was dressed or my mother would most definitely not recover from the shock...

I would never have a tatoo and would certainly not let my children have one whilst I am responsible for them. Tatoos immediately bring to mind the Holocaust and a tatoo can NEVER be removed (not properly). Imagine what the cute butterfly is going to look like on a 60 yo old skin!

I want a tattoo; I think it would be an extension of self-expression ... it would be smaller(but not minute) and tasteful ... and I would put it where I could show it off sometimes, but hide it if necessary too ... LOL! ... I do not fear my mothers judgement, even tho she doesn't have a tattoo, I feel grown-up enough to do want is right for me ... but still I don't have a proper one ...

I believe in remaining a clean canvas...the way God created me...I have learned over years that there is meaning in many of the tattoos. I would always ask myself, will this be to the honour and glory of God and if the answer is no...I would not do it.

Love the look of the bracelet...off to go and check it out.

I love the braclet too. Stunning.
I wouldn't go for the tattoo, just because they look awful on old skin.

The bracelet is linked to reiki...so I am unsure...and when I am unsure I don't go for it.

Its interesting that its always the mothers that have a problem with tattoos ... and that counts for any generation ... Love the bracelet. Hugs from Desire

don't do tatoos - right now my skin is lovely and plump and soft but what about when it's hangy and loose?

no thank you.

is the bracelet silver? if not it's going to lose it's shinyness all too soon.

I like that bracelet. When I was in the USA I got a chain for for my daughter and my son's girlfriend with circles with words on to put on the chain - very similar, except you chose the words you want. Tatoos, I have been wanting one, but am scared of the pain. My son has 3!

I have no issue with tattoos but am not into the pain factor. Am seriously contemplating piercing my nose or my eyebrow....does it mean I am having some sort of midlife crisis? hehe

When are you coming to CT girl? Any chance in the future?

Oh how I love a good controversy! Who knows if I'll ever get a tattoo because there is always such a division of opinion & while I really love the idea I would hate to do something that God seriously abhors...so I just don't know...I would obviously go for something full of colour & it would symbolise my celebration of life, not something revolting or with some weird hidden meaning LOL. Yes the bracelet is a beauty...I was disappointed to see that it was on a Reiki site but nonetheless the words are perfect for me & there are no funny symbols or anything on it. Mel you are not having a midlife crisis unless you are acting very out of character, which I doubt. I have always loved the tattoo idea & maybe you have always loved the piercing one. I say go for it. It's funky & people shouldn't judge others by their outward appearance just because something you wear or sport (ie piercing/tattoo) might not be to their taste. No chance of me coming to CT in the near future sadly. No holiday money ;-(

heehee ... Shaynes comment is funny ... when am I getting all 'hangy and loose'??!! ROFLMAO ... maybe I should wait until after then to get my tattoo ... maybe I can work the saggyness into the design!!!??

I am seriously not knocking the bracelet...I would have loved to see the word "faith" in it as well.

Shayne made me LOL with the "hangy and loose" comment. I hope I never get "hangy and loose". Yikes!

I value your opinion Lynette. You are right - I would also have loved to have seen the word Faith in there ;-D

Well, I don't do tattoos or reiki so no body art/piercing or bracelet for me. I saw a tweety bird (full colour) tattoo on a middle age lady's foot at a scrapping class recently - gave me such a shock as she was "regular joe/conservative" and it looked totally out of place.

If you take the dubious factor out of it with regard to Christianity & the scriptures, I am still amazed at people's negativity towrds tattoos. I just don't think it's that big a deal to get a small tattoo that's pretty & not full-arm tattoos full of black Satanic crosses, etc..."conservative" means opposed to change so I would be the oppposite of that...I think there is a lot in this world that could do with changing & a lot of prejudice that needs to be eradicated. As for reiki - I don't really know what it is but gather it is some type of eastern practice & therefore opposed to Christianity so I have no desire to involve myself with it either, but don't think wearing a bracelet is going to bestow bad luck on me - that would be superstitious. I don't believe that buying something from a certain shop or site means anything - after all we all buy clothes that have been manufactured in the East - no doubt by people steeped in Eastern religions - & I doubt any of us perform any cleasning ceremonies on them first...just a thought ;-D
