20 Things going on around here...

I have adapted this from Ali Edward's blogpost, which you can find here, so I challenge you to follow suit if you are in need of some posting fodder, and also because we want to get to know ya!

  • Things are returning to term-time "normal"
  • Relieved that Jack has yet again adapted to a new environment
  • Concerned that things may not be a whole heap better where he is now but grateful that the travelling distance is a whole heap less...
  • Noting with sadness & joy that my little girl is becoming less & less dependent on me by the day & that my big girl is becoming an adult & is no longer desperate to please me...
  • So grateful for Reilly...such a big heart in a little body...I marvel at his ability to think like a considerate adult as a child...
  • Not feeling refreshed after the holidays but looking forward to household help again next week ;-D
  • Wondering how I have used 1 GIG's worth of bandwidth in less than a week...and if creating my Picasa Online Album (finally) has had something to do with it...
  • Having another "crisis" with regard to my albums & wishing I was rich enough to have bought We R Memory Keepers Albums years ago...
  • Feeling like I'm getting to grips with my scrappy stash now that my patterned paper all sorted from randomness to By manufacturer
  • Tired of fighting with my photo printer & cartridges & wondering why I can't just print a decent photo without everyone looking lilac???!!!
  • Annoyed again by the pathetic mentality attached to our local scrapbooking "industry"...
  • Hating cooking more than ever at the moment...
  • Soooooooooo enjoying dh's wonderful bacon & avocado on toast dinners for me (love that man...)
  • Sick & tired of receiving Gloom & Doom e mail "forwards" about cell-phone guns, new hi-jacking tactics, etc & wondering where in the world is worth emigrating to...
  • Working on my two double layouts required for Reminisce this month & looking forward to seeing my bio & links up on France's site next month
  • So excited to start my online course at Two Peas on the 3rd...
  • Feeling desperate for a holiday & wondering how I am going to keep going without one in sight...ever...
  • Concerned about my family's future in this harsh economic climate
  • Worried about the future of industry in South Africa - particularly the clothing industry - & as my husband's company supplies it life would be easier if manufacturing was still viable here
  • Content & grateful even though I don't sound like it (having just proof-read this) LOL...

Oh baby do I hear you on that one!!! and I LIKE cooking ... I just get so sick of having to think up and cook meals all day during the hols ... and the constant reminders from hungry kids!! drives me batty ... Shanes Bacon and Avocado dinners sound devine! mmmmmmmm ...

I don't mind cooking - it's the thinking of what to cook that's my problem. If they told me what they wanted each night it would be much easier

1G in a week? I haven't even used a tenth of that in a week.

And i'm so sick of cooking too. Everyone just sits and looks at me and expects me to come up with the ideas as well as cook the meal. Drives me batty!

Well I'm glad I'm not the only one then! Makes me feel guilty as it is definitely part of my job description but is not easy when it HAS to be done all the flipping time & everyone has a different idea about what constitutes a "nice" meal...cooking would be way more pleasureable if everyone could just agree on that! I am actually a perfectly adequate cook but have been stilted over the years by my husband's very narrow minded palate & the kids, who can hardly take a grain of pepper! So the exotic stir-fries that are right up my street I only get to enjoy on a night out!

Have been thinking of you, and wondering how Jack is getting on. I also HATE the daily cooking - although I actually quite like cooking, I think it's the DAILY-ness that gets me, and also that it always seems to have to be done in a rush!

As you know I hate cooking and thanfully my DH does his bit as well!
You sound so down - makes me sad even though I now you are always content and grateful.

WE have a rule in our house (for about 15 years now) - I cook twice a week, Dereck cooks twice a week and Friday, Saturday and Sunday anything happens. Now that Grant is grown up, he and his girlfriend cook once a week. My two days are when my maid is there, so normally I get her to make something so all I have to do is heat it up and make the veggies or a salad!! I make good use of resources. I enjoy cooking and baking, but have a very fussy husband and daughter (when she lived at home)

Well Michelle you seem to have things sussed! Actually my DH is also very good so usually I do Monday - Thursday, we get take-aways on Friday & Saturday/Sunday is a bit of a free for all - that's why I feel guilty complaining...but as you say Penny, it's always in such a rush - and usually at a time of the day when I would rather be sipping a cocktail LOL!
