Monday's Inspiration - June 1 2009

Anything is possible, as these two people clearly show.

The female dancer has one arm & the male dancer one leg.

The woman lost her arm in an accident when she was already in her 30's. She was a trained dancer at the time. She fell into depression for a number of years. At this point she was asked to coach a children's dance group. This reignited her dancing passion & she started training again. Things were very difficult as she had lost her balance along with her arm. She could no longer manage simple turns & spins & would simply fall flat.

She then heard about a man in his 20's that had lost his leg in an accident. She tracked him down & invited him to become her dance partner. He was at the same emotional low point that she had been for the past few years. Initially he refused to contemplate the ludicrous notion of learning how to dance one-legged! Eventually he agreed, as he no longer had anything with which to fill his days. It wasn't easy for either of them. He had no clue as to how to control his body or use his muscles. In fact, he had no basic concept of dance whatsoever.

As a result the couple initially failed to train together as the young woman had hoped. She couldn't take his lack of commitment & his cluelessness & he became frustrated & impatient. They split up. However both of them still had a vision of what they could become "together" if they really put their minds to it...eventually they reunited & hired a choreographer to design dance routines based on their special needs. They entered this competition, broadcast on Chinese Television & legitimately won first place.

If this week seems daunting, take heart, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE...

I was sent that as an e mail forward over the weekend. I have a You-Tube account. It is straightforward to acquire one. I just googled Amazing Dance Chinese Dance Competition to find it in Youtube as I was sent it as an Adobe Reader attachment without the link. On the right-hand side of the screen you select all the HTML where it says EMBED & paste it into your post box - where you write your posts - and there you have it!
