Little Shop of Sketches Layout 32

Here is my latest layout over at Little Shop of Sketches. You can look here to see it along with the rest of the Design Teams work. Any of you wanting to scraplift the sketch stands a chance of winning a lovely pack of brads. You need to upload your layout into the Stampin' Scrap Gallery (details are on the Little Shop of Sketches blog) within the next 12 days to stand a chance to win.

Title:- Forever United.

Journalling:- Feb 2009. For the last year trading football cards has been all the rage at school.

Tip:- This is an economical layout, using only 3 sheets of plain cardstock. Cut your border slightly bigger than you want it to appear, ie:- trim 1.5cm from the inside leaving a solid "frame" of cardstock & a large square piece from the inside. You will then use the square piece (cut down as you like it) ON TOP of your background cardstock INSTEAD OF USING ANOTHER SHEET!

Trim your background cardstock down to exactly the size you want it, ie trim off .75cm from each side. Now place this ON TOP of the "frame" of cardstock & adhere at the back. Not hard & saves you money ;-)

I used grey cardstock with contrasts of vermilion & mustard. The photo was taken at night so it had the dreaded orange glow that accompanies flash photography. I really wanted to use it though as Reilly spends many an evening sorting out his Match Attax folder so it is representational of his life at the moment.

I'm enjoying the very simple task of writing on some of my photos (in Picasa) before printing them these days. I printed in red as it is a contrasting colour to yellow & also because it is the official Manchester United Football Club colour. Reilly kindly parted with 2 of his last season's cards so that I could use them on my layout. I replaced the space where 2 smaller photos went on the original sketch with the cards instead. I'm working through my ribbon stash at the moment so used it down the join of the cardstock & for the number 4 in my title.

I trimmed the red down to about a third (try to work on what looks good rather than getting hung up on measurements) & thirds always work well...I also used it to mat the trading cards. I stamped the UNITED in black with my clear stamps (think they're Autumn Leaves) then punched them out with my circle punch (make life easy & get yourself a decent one like the ones from Creative Memories) & attached each with a glue dot.

The word EVER uses Making Memories alpha stickers . The red dots (& the yellow ones) are from a sheet of office stickers I bought at the stationer the other day. Now that dots are "in" I plan to use these all over the place on my layouts ;-) I used my Dymo machine for the date. I handwrote the journalling with a black fineliner pen. I printed the MUFC logo onto photographic paper (found it on the Internet) & bumped it up with foamcore. Way cheaper than buying a Jolee's...

I decided now would be as good a time as any to use up some of my eyelets. I've noticed them popping up on published layouts again these days, but in a more random format. If you haven't chucked yours out yet then now is the time to give them a second chance. Suddenly they're cool again...

Tip:- To have enough ribbon to "write" the number 4 I didn't use any UNDER the photo, instead I cut 2 strips, one for the top & one for the bottom. I would have laughed at this a couple of years ago but now I think it's a good use of resources,LOL! (The world's - not just my own...)
