A Crazy Coupla Days

The last 2 days have passed in a blur! I have been spending 3 hours a day in the car carting the kids from one destination to another, etc, etc. Everything is set & organised for the painting tomorrow & MOST importantly A LOT of my I T problems have been (supposedly) solved. Poor Anton only left here at 6.30 this evening but I am praying that things are going to go a lot more smoothloy from here on. I have some major work ahead of me regarding my photo storage & categorization but I am (at last!) on the right track.

PICASA is NOT the way to go. While it is FANTASTIC for editing DO NOT use it to store your photos in or you will eventually (or quickly if you are a photo fanatic like me) run into some very serious issues. I have had to delete/clear/WIPE OUT EVERYTHING from it. Uninstall & reinstall. From now on I am using it as an EDITING program ONLY & returning everything back into My Pictures afterwards. I had already created 20 albums & got everything into the right ones & had to sacrifice it all (All the images are still in My Pictures, but as they were taken, so chronologically ordered, not according to subject).

I was very affected by Stacey Julian's talk at the Johannesburg Scrapbooking Convention last year & have had it on my mind since then to get things into order. I was too exhausted to join the endless queues at Scrapbook Emporium on site, to buy her book, Photo Freedom, but have eventually ordered it from Amazon & it should be here soon enough. I am also VERY EXCITED to have organised some seriously LUSH scrappy goodness all the way from America! It is gorgeous & I am splitting it 3 ways with my scrappy buds & we're going to save a ton of cash (even AFTER a HUGE amount of postage it is 40% cheaper than here...) It's been a hassle but no pain, no gain I say, & it's gotta be done. Once all the logistics are sorted I'm just going to be soaking up that scrappy goodness & patting myself on the back ;-)

As you can tell all the Vitamin B is doing it's thing & I am feeling WAY more cheery! I should be posting the rest of my mini album right now, but I've had a LONG 2 days & it's 8 o'clock now & time for me to shower & have a relax for a change. I've got a new magazine so tonight is officially loafing night. Tomorrow I will be taking up my post as Assistant Painter & Assistant Gardener but sometime soon I'll let you see the rest of my album. I've also been pretty productive on the scrapping front & have 10 new layouts to load from the last couple of weeks so keep checking!

Congrats on all the sorting out you've managed. Good luck with the renovating.

I must admit, I don't use Picasa to store anything... just to make my collages... everything else I do in other programmes.... I have my own filing system too which I find works for me.... each to his own I guess.

Well you are definitely sounding a lot happier about everything especially the IT stuff and your photos cos I know you were worried about it. So just what are these goodies you are getting??? All the best with your DIY around the house.

I only use Picasa to edit, and store all my photos in My Pictures ... and in there I have it all arranged in separate folders according to subject etc ... my warning there is still download to disc often ...
I set up a folder in My Pics called 'to look at' and then I told the computer to put all pics there when I put my media card in; and then arrange from there into separate folders.

I'm glad you're feeling better! It also sounds like you've been productive - good for you! I go through spurts. The key is to not let it go too long between spurts :)
